We love Amsterdam, almost bought a place there but opted for a somewhere else instead. My architect wife loves walking around and photographing the doors and door handles!
Did you make it all the way through War and Peace? I made it 75% of the way through. At about 33% I realized that the style of this literary effort reflected the psycho-social qualities of the then-readers’ lives. That is to say, that it read like a soap opera, and I got around to wondering if it had been written in installments, like Trollope’s “The Way We Live Now”.

If I could post photos I would post of my monitor stands, which variously sit on The Pelican Shakespeare, The VLSI Handbook, and The Brothers Karamazov😂. I liked Notes from Underground, and my little two-fer including The Overcoat and The Nose.
Ivan Denisovich still rules. Beats those boat anchors under my monitor stands. I also have lots of really heavy Springer-Verlag texts I use as doorstops.
