it's true that without kia and hyundai, there is no car theft surge. An example of markets failing again. Because private companies made a mistake, all of us are paying higher insurance and police bills.
A sidebar is that without the thefts of kias and hyundais the crime numbers would look far better. So in a real sense, those two companies are spoiling the US political system by giving a false sense of 'rising crime' when it's to a large extend just two cheapskate companies and their idiotic decisions to save a few dollars.
How is it the carmakers' fault that certain cities have out of control crime? Korea has far less crime than certain American areas - there aren't daily carjackings in Seoul, for example.

other nations require immobilizers, so the cars can't be stolen so easily. Just to avoid this problem.
You can steal American hyundais and kias with a screwdriver basically. Videos on you tube. a third to a half of US car thefts in cities are H and Kias. All so the companies could save $100 each car.
Is that illegal? No. Is it an example of failed capitalism and markets? Yes. You and I are paying to subsidize the profits of these companies because they made a foolish decision. Not sure why you are ok with that. You probably got mad when the government bailed out the banks and carmakers in 2009, right? This is similar. But you are defending it. Weird.

The other side of this is that the housing market is sort of frozen right now...very low volume. When mortgage rates fall (they are a high 7.22% now but falling fast), more homes will come on the market and that might actually lower prices.
But for now...record home prices. A sign of a healthy economy.

Agip - don't take this too harshly but no one, and I mean NO ONE reads your GOP crime blotter. Perhaps it is a cathartic experience for you, and in that case, continue with it. Your time might be better spent doing fund-raising for Biden, Harris or Newsom.

2. On a serious note, both parties seem to exhibit the soft bigotry of low expectations around certain (non-Asian) minorities, especially blacks. Democrats seem to imply every Hispanic is illegal when talking about immigration and Republicans do the same. But when talking about blacks they seem to only think blacks care about criminal justice reform, implying blacks are criminals.
Obviously it's not the most representative set of the US black population, but from my experience, I've seen that black men, especially married ones w/ children and/or immigrants, earning $150-200k per year or more care more about taxes and making sure their children have a good education than progressive BS like the constant discussion/promotion of transgenderism and other culture war issues. They still vote majority Democrat, but significantly less than the average of around 90% Democrat.
