Read that WSJ article about how Trump-plomacy works. It's all about funneling money to his buddies and therefore making them loyal to Piggie.

That's how Putin does it, and that's how Piggie does it. Picking businesses that are on 'his' side and have to stay loyal if they want the money to flow.

In this case, American companies would go into Venezuela, fix up its terrible oil infrastructure and keep half the profits for itself. That kind of thing.

And the side benefit to trump is that one of his core beliefs is that to lower inflation you need cheap oil. Much more Venezuelan oil (along with more Russian oil of course) would certainly lower the price of oil.

what that officer HEARS is that suddenly he is in jeopardy for doing something illegal, and not having the WH or Defense Department behind him. He sees himself as a potential scapegoat.
