Have you noticed that right wingers have a common hatred, fear or dislike of immigrants? I don't know what you call it but they all seem to share it. But in real life, they likely get along fine with people that are Mexicans and that are also illegal. Many of the most fervent right wingers even employee illegal immigrants. They mow their yards. They build their houses. They do their tile work.
It is easy to say it is racial but that can't be the case because many hispanics have this same hatred of hispanic immigrants even though they were once immigrants. (yes, they like to claim it was different for them because they worked hard to get here). It is easy for right wingers to claim that they just want them to come legally and they will be fine with them. But many do come legally and they still hate them.
My theory is that it is a glass half full thing. Fox news gets them whipped up into thinking they are coming to take what is rightfully theirs. Even though they are not. Unless they want to work in the fields picking produce. And what makes it even more difficult to understand is most of the right wingers are strong bible thumpers too on other issues.
Many Bible thumpers believe that being religulous gives them moral backing to hate, discriminate, and cheat in the name of god. Almost any behavior is justified this way in their minds.
If anyone ever tells you "I'm a good christian" you are about to get cheated hard. Actual good people don't need to say it, they do it.
But the bible commands Christians to treat the poor, the immigrants and the fatherless child with kindness, love and generosity. It does this literally hundreds of times. Do they have a pass from J Christ himself that they are exempt on that stuff?

it's a fear of change...those people are called conservatives for a reason, and trump says' 'make america great AGAIN' for a reason. They don't want change away from their view of the world.
these people feel that the culture of America is at risk by letting in too many new people, especially if they are from 'sh'thole' nations.
These conservatives want to preserve the essential character of America because the essential character of America IS THEIR CULTURE, so the conservatives get furious when newbies come with other cultures and do not take on the old WASPy existing culture.
Honestly, I am sympathetic to the idea that we have to preserve the cultural golden goose of America - that we need to preserve its core and yes too many immigrants would dilute that. The protestant work ethic is no joke and basically only exists in nations that are the children of Europe. And some in Asia too. I think we should all want to protect that.

For those that need more proof that the GOP can't govern. Today we learned of McCarthy physically assaulting a fellow member of his party that voted against him. And at a congressional hearing a GOP Senator rose to his feet wanting to have a schoolyard fist fight with a UAW leader on the floor of a hearing televised on CSPAN.
But other than that, the GOP is doing great things for America. You might even say they are making American Great again.
