"The decision by the U.S. Department of Education to exclude nursing (as well as physical therapy, physician assistant, and audiology) from its definition of a "professional degree" program under new federal student loan rules is projected to hurt the American people primarily by worsening the existing healthcare worker shortage and potentially reducing the quality and accessibility of patient care."
Dementia at its best !!
My wife is a speech language pathologist. SLPs are included in this decision. SLPs have to have a masters degree. To get into the masters program, you need a very long list of prerequisites from undergrad in communication sciences and disorders plus biology, physics or chem, psychology and statistics. Most of those who enroll in the masters program will have taken a "post-bacc" year of courses to meet all the pre-requisites.
The masters program is very time consuming, with students in their second year working 30-40 hours a week their entire second year in clinical externships while going to school at night. You can do the first year as a part time student, but you cannot work while you are doing the clinical externship.
Pay for SLPs in schools is just a bit above the pay for classroom teachers. SLPs working in hospitals make about what a nurse makes. Turnover is pretty high because it is a female dominated industry and women frequently go in and out of the SLP workforce to have children. A good number will drop the profession altogether to move to better paying work.
The number of SLPs coming out of graduate programs has not kept up with demand. Most school districts have SLPs who have too many cases and cannot keep up with demand for therapy. Schools then have to turn to companies who provide SLPs on a contract basis to fill gaps. Those companies have been lobbying state governments to repeal licensing laws for SLPs so they can just train any schmo to do therapy and pay them $15 an hour to do go on zoom with some kid at a random school in the US and charge the school $60 an hour.
Without timely and competent intervention by an SLP, speech sound disorders, lisps, stuttering and other developmental delays and disorders which are very treatable can become permanent.
Thanks for posting..
It is helpful to have real life examples on how bad Trump's rule is hurting Americans. Sad that 30% of the country can't see it with their own eyes and instead buy into the garbage that Trump is just hurting libs by removing "woke" stuff..
It will take some time but a crackpot, corrupt authoritarian wrecking the country to enrich himself and family by selling it off in parts will be felt by all. And especially MAGA.

Trump's failure to learn anything at any grade level from kindergarten to failed his Wharton degree, is why he is so obviously speech-challenged. If someone like your wife tried to save him when he was young, the result would be what a Wharton professor said about him, he was the dumbest student ever at Wharton.
Does anyone know when we get the $5,000 checks from DOGE that Trump promised? What I love about Trump is he’s a straight shooter. He may rub people the wrong way, but he tells it like it is. That’s why I know the promised $5,000 DOGE checks are as good as cash money in the bank. I booked a surprise trip home to see my family because I know those America First kickbacks are coming soon, baby.
Anyway, if anyone has seen their $5,000 check yet from the Billions DOGE cut, please let me know.
one thing we need to keep in mind...is that trump was formed in the 1970s and that's his mindset. And it ain't changing.
One of the things burned into him is that energy prices are 90% of inflation. Piggie thinks to his soul that energy prices are the key to inflation.
So what does that mean to us?
1/ He wants Venezuelan oil to flow faster. If a war to get it back up to speed is necessary, he'll have that war
2/ Whatever Saudi and Gulf States want, they get. Piggie wants Saudi to increase oil flow and they won't do it if they are mad at us.
3/ Piggie wants Russian oil back on the market and will surrender Ukraine to get it.
So expect war of some sort on Venezuela, expect piggie to keep trying to get Russian oil flowing.
The counterforce is the massive amount of GOPers in the oil business who do not want the foreign taps turned on, driving prices down. They don't kid around and will hurt piggie if they need to.
SAO PAULO (Reuters) -A panel of Brazil's Supreme Court voted on Monday to keep former President Jair Bolsonaro in police custody after Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered his detention on Saturday citing a flight risk.
Cheriflus McCormick - Democrat charged with $5 million in COVID relief fraud
So what does it mean? First, it brings back the days in which the federal government was shoveling billions out the door in the name of COVID relief. Would the government, either in Washington or Florida, ever have noticed that it had mistakenly sent $5,057,850.00 when it meant to send $50,578.50? Who knows? And who knows how much of the COVID billions was stolen or wasted in ways the government never knew

Moraes is a tyrant. Brazil needs some “freedom” brought to them by the US
Justice Moraes, a sanctioned human rights abuser, has brought Brazil’s Supreme Court into international disrepute and shame by flouting traditional norms of judicial restraint and brazenly politicizing the judicial process. The US is gravely concerned by his latest attack on the…

You are making the same mistake that I often make. You are assuming there is some type of plan or thought process going through Trumps mind. With Trump it is always much simpler.
My guess is Trumps like the Middle East because they are giving his family billions. And he likes going to war with Venezuela because the last person that had his ear told him it would be tremendous. Trump doesn’t care about inflation.

Oldrunningguy - you probably want to edit your posts before posting. That last one was painful reading.

I hear you, but I do think piggie has 3-5 core beliefs and acts on them.

How would that professor had known Trump was the dumbest president at Wharton? The number of students taking his class was but a small percentage of the total student population at Wharton. That professor was out to get Trump.

He believes in Tariffs.
tariffs, cheap oil, immigrant hate, distrust of cities and black/brown people, lowering taxes, crime is always high in cities no matter what, good looks matter more than good honor, scapegoating, use hyperbole for everything, never apologize or explain, act like a tribal big man chief.
So the trump admin is going after Senator Mark Kelly now, because he reminded officers that the law requires them to reject illegal orders. Piggie is a horrible human being, and anyone who works for him is a miserable person.
trump is telling the armed forces that they do in fact have to follow his orders, no matter what. The war is coming home, gents.

that's about it. Maybe I'm forgetting something.
greed is good, measure a man by how much money he has, not how much honor he has....
