Conor Lott, Miles Cook go 13:44-13:46 up in lowell invite (short course by the way). Feels like top tier individual runners. Hopefully they get to be in the sweepstakes race to show what they got. Clovis north loses to bellarmine college prep 66-157
Clovis North’s #2 guy from last meet had an off race. They were also missing their #5 from last meet. They got beat by Mountain View too. Bellarmine had an impressive 11-second 1-6 spread. Menlo had 4 of their top 5 missing (one of those guys was in the freshman race).
In the girls race: Hanne Thomsen 15:54. Montgomery girls went 1-2-3. After that, it was a huge drop off for Montgomery and they took 6th today.

Cook ran a 4:08 at CCS and has the #2 all time course record for Lagoon Valley Classic right behind Michael Vernau (only by 2 seconds). He also ran a 15:27 at Woodward Park. Lott ran a 15:24 at Woodward Park last season and he was only a Sophmore. These two have potential to be legit this coming season.
I encourage all the following teams to try to get into the Woodbridge sweepstakes! Remember only 2 teams (at most 3 teams) can represent California at NXN. If you are feeling good right now, try to show you are relevant at the national level at Woodbridge. As it is unlikely you will be able to do the same at NXN.
Here is a list of the top California teams that all seem to be in contention for a nxn bid, every teams could be considered nationally relevant at some level:
Ayala Mira Costa Great Oak Bellarmine Buchanan Clovis East Beckman Jesuit CA Jserra Redondo Union ML King Menlo
Mountain View (ccs) looked really good today. Crazy improvement over the summer and have a very young team, losing to bellarmine by less than one minute (team time)

Mira Costa, Jesuit, and Beckman have something in common. They have a really good pack of 5-7, but don’t have a front runner like some other teams do. But that’s not a big problem because those packs can beat #2 runners of most other teams which is huge. One person isn’t sufficient for a team to win.
Last year Herriman won NXN without anyone in the top 25. Soles doesn’t always have front runners, and even with that, his teams still make it to nationals.

herriman had 2 front runner at nxn - jack beckstrom placed 28th and jonah tang was 34th. That is most likely better than what any team's front runners in california can probably do.
Does anyone know what happened to Will Mulliken of Archie Williams? He’s arguably one of the fastest returners in NCS along with Caldwell, Rattary, McBride, Sagiraju, and Griffen-Yeh. Archie Williams #2 raced at Lowell and placed pretty high but no sight of Mulliken.
