Who puts rich people on a pedestal?
Literally no one in this day and age. It's a popular progressive trope that people who don't have hammer-and-sickles or raised fists or rainbows and pronouns in their social media profiles worship the rich, just because they don't think a communist revolution will solve America's problems. Go to any right-of-center forum and see how much they worship Elon Musk, for example, or even Donald Trump these days. I suppose there is probably also an element of "hate the top 1%, because if you hated the top 10 or 15% you'd have to hate me too!" going on with your average college-educated champagne socialist.
