America needs to leverage its strength to force the whole world to change. Or we heat up 4 degrees by 2100 and the systems will be strained to the point of breaking. Pointing fingers certainly won't help us.
That is certainly working out.
China is by far the biggest emitter. Let's make it clear that we will defend Taiwan and try to isolate them economically if they try anything like we did with Russia. They'll need to keep the lights on if that happens. China has a lot of coal. "And still they build more: China is planning to build 43 new coal-fired power plants and 18 new blast furnaces — equivalent to adding about 1.5% to its current annual emissions — according to a new report."
Well, Sri Lanka is pretty small, we can boss them around. How about we get them to go organic? "Sri Lanka, an island of 22 million people, continues to be in the grip of its worst economic and political crisis since independence on 10 February 1948"
The Dutch are pretty friendly, lets get their farmers to ease off on the nitrates. "Aug 16, 2022 Police in the Netherlands have reportedly arrested over 100 people in relation to protests against EU green agenda measures which will see up to 30 per cent of livestock farms in the country forced to close."
About the only success I can think of by the environmental crusaders is converting much of the coal in the US to natural gas. "CO2 emissions from the electric power sector fell by 4.9% in 2016. A significant reduction in coal use for electricity generation was offset by increased generation from natural gas and renewable sources. Renewables do not emit CO2, and a shift towards natural gas from coal lowers CO2 because natural gas has lower emissions per unit of energy than coal and because natural gas generators typically use less energy than coal plants to generate each kilowatthour of electricity"
Gas pairs with renewables well because the plants can be fired up quickly to match demand. But gas is apparently not good enough any more because we're led by idiots (literally, when you look at the senile geriatrics at the top and the AOCs) and renewables without the gas leads to blackouts.
Personally, I think CA will have solved this before it becomes a problem, but most people I know (including me) plug my car in as soon as I get home.
Like most all EVs, you can set a preferred charge time on the Mach E so it charges in off-peak hours regardless of when it is plugged in.
When I get home I plug in. Most people I know do this.
Now it will become important for people to set a charge time if the grid becomes an issue. Right now it’s not and since the majority of EVs are still priced high, people who own them aren’t as concerned about saving a buck here or there by charging in the middle of the night.
Most parts of CA have "time of use" rates. So there is already a financial incentive to set your car to charge over night when the rates are cheaper.
Sure, but the cost is minimal. It’s cheap to charge at home at any time of day. When I come back from the office and get home. I plug in. Most people do. We’re not waiting until 10pm to charge.
Do you have time of use rates where you live?
Does the Mach-e have the ability to set your charging time?
If the answer is yes to both, why not save a few bucks?
You can still plug in when you get home. It just won't start charging until later.

How about I just plug in when I park my car in the garage.
^This what someone not qualified to participate in this discussion would say. Lol

You’re not qualified to participate in this discussion. You’ve never driven a Mach-e. If you had, you find out (like a lot of others have) that it is a superior vehicle in terms of quality, comfort and how it drives. It’s so much better that I know a couple of people who after they drove my Mach-e, ordered one of their own and will put their teslas up for sale when they come in. For now they are stuck driving a vehicle inferior to the Mach-e. It drives them nuts. Luckily, I drove the Mach-e before I ordered a model y. The Mach-e was a significantly better vehicle. It wasn’t close.
if you decide to ever drive a Mach-e, I’m confident you would get rid of your model y and order a Mach-e. It’s that much better.
Some hybrids are a good option. They work well for people who may have range anxiety, don’t have a convenient way to charge or there is a barrier that prevents an EV from being a good option. I know several people who have one (or two) and love them.

But the spec sheets, dammit!!!
A lot of others have driven both and like the Tesla better.
As I showed you, there is even one family who not only drove both, but owned both. They got rid of the Mach-e because they ended up hating it. But they still have their Tesla.
What makes you so sure I would prefer the Mach-e? How do you know I wouldn't be like those others who prefer Tesla?
How about I just plug it in when I park it in my garage. Why are you so concerned about when I charge.
That's all you have to do. Just plug it in when you park.
Are you saying you don't know how to set this up in the Mach-e?
Why would I do this? I don’t wait to recharge my phone in the middle of the night. I don’t wait to charge my laptop. I have a couple of roombas that I don’t wait to recharge. I could set my dishwasher to wash at a certain time, but I don’t. Why wouldn’t I just plug my car in when it is in the garage? Why would I wait? And why are you so concerned with when I charge?

It would save you money and you don't have to do anything different than you are already doing now. Do you like wasting money for no reason whatsoever?

I already addressed that. And it would be different - my car is probably charged now.
Why are you so concerned about when I charge? Lol. You are one weird dude.
