Trumpers see themselves in Trump. He made it acceptable to be a horrible person by getting elected to the presidency while being a horrible person. (Or at least that's what they believe.)
So when Trump is attacked for being a horrible person, they feel like they are attacked for being horrible persons. They believe Trump because they believe in themselves.
Funny thing is that Trump does NOT see himself in Trumpers. He believes they are despicable, and has even privately admitted that. But Trumpers dismiss the reporting as "fake news", because well, that's just another attack on THEM.
Lots of truth in this. And Trumpers are pure snowflakes. .
Think about all vile and slanderous names and phrases that Trump has used regularly for literally everyone. Including his own staff after they resigned. An entire book could be written.
Yet Hillary Clinton uses the benign word deplorables and Trumpers act like they have been wronged to an extent worthy of eternal damnation.
I get a kick out of Trumpers believing inner city crime is a result of whether the mayor is Republican or Democrat.
Everything is so simplistic when you live in the right wing world. (More guns, Ban abortion, Prayer back in school, stop wokeism). Complex problems are solved with one sentence catch phrase solutions.
Bill O Reilly, Hannity, Alex Jones and Tucker all have had simplistic solutions that sound so logical and catchy. Until they get put into office and then not so much.
Yeah
the complexity shows when you start trying to figure out why crlme in big cities fell around 80% 1991-2022ish. That was under mostly Dem leadership too, but not just because of Dem leadership.

it’s all very complicated
It is exhaustingly stupid. Inner city Kid becomes a gang member because the Mayor is a Democrat. He would not have if the mayor was a republican. He knows the mayor is a socialist and soft on crime so he shoots another gang kid. If a republican was mayor he would not have done so.
WTF?
Sometimes complex issues aren’t explained through political party lenses.
That article is dated Feb 2023 and does show YOY declines in wealth. But it also shows increases in wealth in ALL categories since 2020 when Trump was fired.
So thanks for proving my point that Trump was full of sh!t.
Two Missouri men accused of assaulting police officers during the U.S. Capitol riot, including pushing bike racks that were being used as barricades into a police line, have been charged. Jared Luther Owens, 41, of Farmington...
1. NYC is the massive exception for multiple reasons: it's VHCOL so many criminals have been priced out, and a lot of the black population of NYC is middle class and/or immigrants.
2. Ohio had 1020 homicides in 2021, according to the CDC. Cleveland had 165 homicides, Columbus had 204, Cincinnati had 94 homicides, and Toledo had 70. These cities - all Democrat-run, combined for 52% of Ohio's homicides. Ohio had 11.78 million people in 2021, and these cities have: 367k (Cleveland), 906k (Columbus), 308k (Cincinnati), 268k (Toledo). So, the combined population is 1.849 million people: these cities are 15% of Ohio's population but have over half of homicides...
1. So you went with moving the goalposts. Got it.
What you said was "Democrat run cities," full stop. So you introduce nuance to your blanket statements when it's convenient?
2. The fact is that NYC is entirely a "Democrat run city" and the state of Ohio is not. Surely Ohio's notably higher percentages of white residents and nonurban residents should have evened out the spikes in Ohio's cities? Except they didn't. It's not just Ohio's cities, but the state (as a whole) that has markedly higher crime rates.
One factor might be that it is somewhat harder for a NYC resident to obtain a firearm. But I know that a lot of people don't want to hear that nuance stuff. Except when it's convenient, of course.
Weird the way that all these Trumpers were willing to ransack the capitol at Trumps beckoning. But nobody is showing up to do ransacking at Trumps indictments and trials. Even though Trump predicted and expected them to.
it’s almost as if criminal penalties have been a deterrent.
From what I've read here by the Democrats, Democrat governance makes places thrive. So why isn't Baltimore - which hasn't had a Republican mayor since the 1960s - safe?
Someone tell this dumb a** science denier disease infected white male that there are 19,000 cities...but he chooses one to talk about. Funny how he doesn't mention all the crimes of white male Republicans....

You think that never happens?
Decisions by DAs and prosecutors have consequences:
Why was Daton Viel, the man with a documented criminal history accused of shooting two Orlando police officers last week in Florida, out on bond in the first place?

That isn't nuanced. Actually, the guy you replied to was adding nuance, and you attacked him for "moving the goalposts."

The same dynamic in place when the article was written has been in play the past quarter as well. Declining stock market coupled with declining real estate while increasing inflation. It’s the ultimate squeeze on the middle class as their wealth is evaporating at the same time they are paying more for their essentials. While the welfare recipients think everything is fine because their giveaways have increased. The wealth gap is declining because he has hammered the upper 80% while keeping the bottom 20% happy with lots of free stuff.
