it's also partly the right-wing version of 'virtue signaling.' Saying that the federal government should have low power to collect lawful taxes is a big seller in trumplandia. Signals that you think the feds are corrupt and really 'them' not 'us.'

Compare to the Dem version of virtue signaling - that we should be tolerant and friendly to people who are different than us.

Wake me when we see a positive return on the investment. The best way to fund the war in the Middle East is with a tax on imported oil (the real reason we support Israel and why Iran hates Israel), Chinese imports (who is backing the other side) and cuts to our military. The sooner we can remove ourselves from the Middle East, the better.
