Breaking: Trump says he’s going to lower taxes even more and pay off the debt
HUGE! if true.
He can do it so long as he spends much less. We’d have a balanced budget now if only we spent at the same level as we did prior to COVID. The problem with Biden is he is spending like we were during COVID, but there is no emergency. You can spend more if you increase tax collections and you can tax less if you spend less. Unfortunately for Bidenomics, you can’t spend more without a simultaneous increase in tax collections (especially since the cost of borrowing is much higher).

The “King of Debt” promised to reduce the national debt — then his tax cuts made it surge. Add in the pandemic, and he oversaw the third-biggest deficit increase of any president.

A physical altercation broke out during a hearing in the case of Vitali GossJankowski, who was convicted of several charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
A branch of the U.S. Department of Health put out a map showing that Democratic states like Vermont and New Hampshire had the highest percentage of drug use.

Biden ran a $1.7 trillion deficit last year (a year without emergency shut downs). It would have been $2 trillion, but the courts overturned his student debt giveaway (which he is trying to reconfigure a way to spend). Now he is getting us entangled in foreign wars that threaten to do to our economy what the Cold War did to the Soviet economy.

On track to be $2 trillion in FY2023
debt to gdp is the key number and it's down a material amount the covid-era peak. The US economy is growing so much that extra debt hasn't increased debt/gdp yet.
that said, the congress and WH have been negligent by borrowing too much and not refinancing the national debt at 1% when we had the chance, pre-inflation. Now we have to pay 5% on the debt and yes, that is going to hurt if it stays for long.

and as for military spending...we've rarely -if ever - spent so little on defense as a percent of GDP as we do now. So I wouldn't worry too much about that one.
The Justice Department is seeking 10 years in prison for Federico Klein, a former Donald Trump appointee convicted of assaulting law enforcement on Jan. 6.
want to know how absolutely terrible the Republicans are?
They want to find a cost offset to Israel aid. Which is fine - I agree. That's wise leadership so I initially clapped.
So where do they want to find the offset? You got it, the IRS. The IRS. Because that's what the billionaire owners of the GOP want. Not a place where the money is legit wasted - noooooo. They don't want to find cuts from some boondogle or wasteful agency. The Repubs want to strangle the tax agency so the richest of the rich can get away with murder.
It's really shocking how bad the GOP is. I mean truly. They always find a way to get worse and more obviously corrupt.
