Yeah. But the whole charisma thing is odd. Any intelligent person would look at Trump and think he is a buffoon, not a charismatic person. Same thing with Hitler. Watch those old films with Hitler in them - he comes across as a runt and a lunatic. How did anyone think that was charismatic?

My point is not that charisma is not a force in the world. My point is that I find it extraordinary that anyone could find Trump (or Hitler) to be charismatic. If I met either of these men in person I would find it difficult to avoid laughing out loud at them. To me, they are buffoons and clowns, not charismatic men.

I had to reread the definition of charisma as it deals with political leaders. It certainly is a match to the dynamics around Trumpism and why he can be so amoral and awful and people will not quit him.
I have a friend that was at an event at Trump Doral a few years ago and met Trump. He isn't a right winger or even political in nature. But he talks about it like he met a huge celebrity. Like it made an impact on him. This is what I find confusing. I can't listen to the guy for 30 seconds without disgust at the lies and narcissism. Evidently some people are so enthralled with him that when they get into a room with him they become influenced to the point that they will gladly ruin their lives for him. And the count of people that have ruined their lives for him is huge and growing daily. And the ruining of their lives doesn't even register as a problem with supporters at all. They side with the guy that corrupts people and turn on those that had their lives ruined by him.
Quite the phenomenon.
