Mr. Pea Milk, I do not contest your statement. I do think things are political where almost each situation is heresay for the hire

Let me take it a step further, one of the situations, in which the wife was hired, she never played a day of sports in her life. Another situation, the wife did not show up to work all season, minus the last two races.

There has been such an extreme sense of inexperience with these hires.

I think the biggest cause if the AD simply does not care about xc and track. When’s the last time a husband and wife duo won a national title together? I’m not saying it didn’t happen, I just can’t thibk of anything.

I feel the main thing to a a marriage is realizing it isn’t junior high and you can’t go work at the same burger joint as your girlfriend.

Of the 6 husband/wife coaching situations I’m aware of, the wife knows nothing.

One of those 6, the AD hired the coaches wife and the wife showed up to zero practices, 2 xc meets, and got a 20,000 stipend for doing so. Personally, I think that warrants legal action.

Not just any sprint coach, she is one of the best unspoken about female sprint coaches in the game. Just lok at her body of work at Pitt and other schools prior to her getting married to current Sprint coach at UNC.

Great athlete does not always mean great coach. Plenty of examples out there to support that

I understand and I agree with a lot what you’re saying.

At the end of the day, us complaining about it on a message board isn’t going to change anything. We have to be the change ourselves. Become head coaches and not hire husband/wife duo. Stop hiring inexperienced females just say no to the AD tell them how important it is for you to hire the person who is the best fit for the position. Interview a couple of the fillers they want and then make it apparent to them that the team or other staff didn’t mesh well. Idk figure it out. Stop hiring those that another coach suggested if they aren’t qualified. Just stand up and make a change and eradicate all of this stupidity going on. It can be changed just needs a unified front.

Point wasn’t about was she a great coach. Point was her background was as a multis athlete and not just a high jumper. Said point was ignored by the original guy and apparently lost on you as well.

Agreed! I’ve just always been a believing in calling a spade for a spade.

I feel it’s almost an unwritten to not talk some hires, like hiring wives.

Needless to say, I’m going to make everyone proud and be just in my hire.

Been a HC at a mid major D1 for about 8 years now. Have women 6 straight women’s xc conference titles and 7 of the last 8 on the men’s side. Pretty sure I won’t be leaving the helm anytime soon. Good day sir
