I never have more than 20% of my liquid assets in equities.
For fun I have invested in Tesla, Nio, Bitcoin, and APHA and had great luck.
Not so much with other investments but overall have had great luck.
One I have not has luck with (not terrible though) is gold.
But when the crash hits, I hope gold will soften the blow...plus I never wait. When things begin to head south, I panic early rather than late

With this massive 27% surge over the last 52 weeks (vs +20% for the SP500), Hussman is now...net positive since inception.
+0.85% per year.
That was snide, but I'm actually rooting for ol'John - so great and rare to see an old guy like that make a turn. Meaning he made money as the market was falling in spring 2020..and then he continued to make money as the market has risen since then.

I've made 50% in that fund in a week.
Totally normal stock market behavior.
Of course, ol'cautious Dave only put in $1000 as a starter position.

This might be a good practical example of the comment I made earlier. I'll keep an eye on this one the next few days. I would say it's FAR likelier to close the week lower (relative to today's open).

it all depends on time frame.
statistically, stocks that are going up tend to keep outperforming.
and stocks that are going down tend to keep underperforming.
but you need a big sample over a lot of time to show this. Anything can happen over short periods of time.
