I wasn't an elite runner, matter of fact, I wasn't even a distance runner. I did medal at the state meet, once as a junior and twice as a senior, in three different events. Ghost of Igloi was the real deal in distance running.

which makes total sense and I 100% should have predicted this last week.

A bunch of guys behind computer screens buying stonks they identify with? GME and TLRY are high on the list.

TLRY has 23% of the float short, which is bullish in a squeeze situation.

And valuations are still much lower in the consumer stocks (compared to tech), obviously.

Okay, when Agip started tracking these certain sectors and tech started lagging in the fall, I immediately thought of Traffic's version of 'John Barleycorn Must Die' which is a modern adaptation of a sixteenth century folksong which foretells a kind of medieval prohibition of alcohol as personified in the cultivating a main ingredient of beer and whiskey- barleycorn.

A classic song, and i bet you guys are familiar with it.

But i thought, no way this tech is going down.

As the song plays out:

"There's beer all in the barrel and brandy in the glass

But little Sir John, with his nut-brown bowl, proved the strongest man at last"

And not far fetched at all when you consider how addicted we are to tech and the web. Same thing, really.

That aside, there's not much i enjoy more than our old friend Levon Helm or those Elton John classics like Igy referenced.

it's a good exercise to read Robbie's book, or see the documentary about Robbie, in conjunction with Levon's book.

Robbie's general story is that he was the only guy in the band not completely wasted on drugs so he had to step up and do stuff. He was angry at the rest of them and their drug addictions making Robbie the only guy running the operation. Take a look at the songwriting credits. Early on it was divided among them but each album it became just Robbie.

That said...he should have spread the wealth better and not claimed all the songwriting credit for himself. Not cool and it hurt the band.

You nailed it. Levon writes in the book about Robertson and Scorsese (who directed The Last Waltz) hitting it off and actually living and partying together. Levon couldn't believe it when he saw the film and realized the camera was on RR most of the time.

They had been a true band and brotherhood for a long time, but eventually RR essentially took over. He was the only one in the band who wanted to do The Last Waltz which was because he was going solo. Fortunately The Band continued on without him. Good riddance.

it was hardly 'good' riddance since neither robbie nor the band did much of anything after The Last Waltz. They weren't much good apart. A couple of good songs here and there.

Until Levon started with the Americana revival around 2008ish. Then he did great work. but that was a long gap.
