Fair play to him, he is mixing it with some of the best runners in the world these days and with the weekly mileage he is is hitting it will be interesting to see if he will be competing with the likes of Sesseman, Mohammad, Yee etc at the sharp end of marathons if he can continue these 100+ mile weeks for a prolonged period of time
I am not sure if this is trolling - probably is! However, Bester has no aspirations to mix it with likes of Sesseman, Mohammad. He runs fast for ego, views, and ultimately to funnel people into his PDF template training programs.
He knows doing a "full send" park fun will generate some of his highest engagement. Using the hook of "sticking with a pro runner" adds even more clickbait.
The pro in question (a nice guy) is definitely not actually a pro.
Also, doing "full send" a while lapping people at a park run is bad enough, but having a guy film him on rollerblades - what the actual f***k! I could see kids, prams and loads of other hazards around. He has no shame and minimal care for safety to get these race vids. Overall, the shows limit morals and a thirst for marketing whatever the cost!
I cannot believe someone who lives for their running is happy to do sub 5 minute miles zigzagging through walkers, people with big can headphones, 14 minute milers, dogs on leads etc
Absolutely amazed he hasn't been tripped and injured himself yet. Surely a matter of time. Not worth the risk imo.

this take is absolute trash but if your username is in reference to the nonsense that is BITR's The Drop podcast then I salute you for that alone
do you realize he did not want to use God's name in vain?
I'm not getting into an argument but you're correcting my spelling for realise? The English spellings of an English word? Really? If people don't want to use "Gods name in vain" then you can't just use a different word. The phrase has no meaning now
I bet you're one of those people who say "could care less" when it's meant to be "couldn't care less"
It's been obvious for a pretty long time that he can't race for some reason. Maybe he puts an insane amount of pressure on himself to the point of getting physically sick, idk. In any case I first became aware of his channel when he first tried UTMB (I think that's around 5 years ago?) and all his races since then have been monumental failures.
I feel Ben puts pressure on himself by constantly talking about his achievements long, long ago, prior to his serious ankle injury.
Look at John Broom, he is basically burying his 2:40 (I think) marathon and constantly talks about "come back" PBs and he seems to be loving new challenges.
A lot of Ben Parkes demeanour seems to be someone desperately wishing he was 25 again. His hair for starters! What is that about? Also living with a girl, 10 years or whatever younger than himself.
Ben cannot use the excuse of "I'm trying to build a business" when talking about reduced mileage. Running is supposed to be his love and he has no kids and should/does have the ability to get out there for structured training more than he does. I think he doesn't want to structure a block because he likes having an excuse.
He also clearly has some serious mental issues. You shouldn't cry at the start of a race or while talking to camera in the middle.
He needs to review his channel and his goals moving forward because I don't think the man is happy
Tried to slog it through Josh Kerr's newest video. I'm a fan of Josh, but I think you'd have to be really into track to watch it all without skipping. Laborious.
Alex Yee's marathon wrap-up video was nice. Comes across as a good guy. Heard he's injured now from London though, which sucks, but at least he got the sort of time/place he wanted.
Great new race along video with Nick Bester. He was one of the first (if not the first) to do this style of video I think and it’s become very popular but I think other than Crown my Run he does it the best.
He holds his own in a 5k against a pro runner which just shows how much he still improves. Can see him going pro himself in the next few years. Such a talented runner - seemingly at any distance! Great work Nick if you read this thread.
I'm not sure how you can know what my aspirations are. How would you know?
Nick is a dedicated athlete - just look at his training on strava and the amount of s&c he does. Definitely don't think you should judge someone you've likely never met.
If you watch his race videos he is very kind and encouraging to the slower runners and makes sure his friend filming only does so on the quiet bits. Its fantastic content and the other parkrunners really appreciate it.
As for how good he can be, time will tell but he is already one of the best runners in the UK. If you look at his power of 10 you will see its in the top 0.0001% and pretty much guaranteed his marathon PB is faster than anyones here.
Why the hate?
One of the best runners in the UK! What the fcuk are you on about.

Absolutely brain dead take. Talking about him rubbing shoulders with Sesemann and Mahamed as if Bester isn’t a million miles away from them. There’s better runners than Bester at most semi-serious Athletics Clubs in the UK.

My correcting your spelling is just a play on your calling out someone for not using God's name in vain
There is so much content out there these days. Can anyone suggest a recent video that I should write a review on?
Kofuzi just did an IG reel vid on the "Runna 5Km" event in NYC. Course looks like it was actually only 2.8-2.9 miles but people are still claiming "5km PRs". I only looked into this because when we coached him I always felt like he could pop a low 18-min 5km and was surprised to see a 18:17....but then I looked it up on Strava and it all made sense (2.8-2.9 mile "5km race distance").
Influencer standards are slipping....but also Runna had to have known this course was significantly shorter than a 5km?!

Because he's insufferable and has a huge ego, and no, his behavior and antics at small-time races and Parkruns are not appreciated by the others there - I have been in some of the same races as him and most people do not appreciate it.

Kofuzi hit a perfect reverse progressive run - a rare feat of skill to hit 5 consecutive KMs slower than the one previous.

Makes sense that they'd do this intentionally, as the they're probably all on Runna "plans", and setting PRs gets the likes and "WOW"s from their buddies (who don't actually know how long it is) and they'll head to Runna, too.
P.S. I noticed that you managed to slip yourself in there... Again ;)
I dont get why Sarah stays with him. He’s crying all the time. I bet he cries during intercourse. A strong masculine man like me would show her a good time without the tears. Sarah call me
