Great weekend for the coffee clubbers. Oli 3:32, Morgan what, 13:13ish. O'Donnell looked good and got a pb as well. For pure racing my favorite of the meet so far.
It would be a damn shame if Lachy's body continued to be fragile his whole career.
That is my only fear. I believe he can make an Olympic final but I'm worried he won't be fit enough to get the chance. But sending positive vibes
Based on the times from the other athletes the conditions aren't that great in Sydney so maybe he has something quite a bit faster than a 9.96 in him. Love to see him take down the NR this year.
Is there a bigger joke currently in Aus track than steeplechase?
Cara Feain-Ryan ran 9:35 and won by 30 seconds. In the men's we 35 year old Ben Buckingham, Ed Trippas, Cashin and then daylight to the rest.
If you're an Aussie NCAA athlete you should be having a crack at some steeple races over there because it's gotta be one of the easiest Australian singlets going around.
Epic to see so many of our top runners at nationals this year eg not the usual situation with the overseas based athlete exemptions who don’t return to run.
However any idea what happened to the MTC guys?
- McSweyn: was down for 1500 and 5000 but didn’t run either
- Robinson: down for 5000 but didn’t run
- Rayner: don’t think he was scheduled to run anything
Apologies if covered earlier in the thread and I’ve missed it.
Robbo had a calf niggle so he gave nationals a miss in order to focus on the roads. Next race is Launceston half. Rayner should be there too. Ethan Shuley, the Japan-based 2:07:14 American is making the trip so it should be a great field.
Stewy - Not MTC but no idea. Seems like his time on the track is done. He's not gonna get into diamond leagues now so hopefully he puts his attention to the marathon.

No junior is watching that race (steeple) and going yea I want to be a steepler sorry but they all want to be Myers, Hull or Hollingsworth. But you're right the talent pool is pretty low.
