A GB women is going to medal.. but for Uruguay.. because GB is too silly to let their athletes run in global championships.. they are seemingly unable to understand that heat/humidity changes the race and you shouldn’t prevent your athletes from RACING because they failed to hit arbitrary standards in time-trial races.
People knock USATF.. but at least we understand the sport and value competition.
I love how people have been hyping Jakob up on the boards for a month, downvoting people who predicted him not medalling. Now it's "no surprise" that he couldn't even make it out of the heats. lol
And the same people are downvoting me now. It won't send Jakob to the semifinal!
This is a big shout out to all the legends of track and field fandom that believed this guy was going to be running in a pool for 6 months and then come out and contend, let alone win the final.
I'll say it, in a way I'm kind of glad this happened. Not as the behest of Jakob but because it's a learning moment for people that don't understand how hard this sport is and how important getting out on the track and racing is. The expectations on him were utterly absurd. Fair play to him for showing up but really he shouldn't have - just classic youthful hubris.
Oh and in case anybody is wondering about the 5000m? He needs to jump on the first flight back to Sandes via Oslo and go be with his wife, kid and cars, get himself completely right for next season and come back with a vengeance.
Good post. In this kind of form a big result in the 5000 is just wishful thinking.

Unless Susanna catches her!! USA!
40 seconds in 2k might not happen. What a gutsy race though!
