What would be an acceptable level of force to address muggings? Delta Force? Hellfire missiles? Armed drones?
If you're worried about crime, there's a lot of steps before sending in the military, or unidentified federal riot police, shooting at people, and suspending habeus corpus.

This is a perfect example of why the feds are needed here. Liberals squack about gun control, but when some unlicensed gun owner randomly tries to murder people, there is no punishment. They get released back onto the streets with barely a slap on the wrist. The number of repeat offenders is staggering and the dems answer is to eliminate bail and defund the police.
That is a lie. Eliminate cash bail. Having $ should not determine if the accused stays in jail until a trial. You should be released based on being a threat.
Defend the police means a city doesn't spend all it'd money on the police and neglecting other city services. Plenty of cities payout millions annually for BS crooked ass cops who brutalize and murder unarmed citizens. Put these murderous cops in prison.
So your solution to reducing crime is to let violent criminals back on the street and then to defund the police and/or throw the police in jail. What could go wrong? Perhaps what could go wrong is crime so severe that the feds need to come in order to restore order.
Also, when you say "you should be released based on being a threat"...being a threat means different things to different people. Most would consider that teenager from the article linked in this thread spraying the neighborhood with bullets from an illegal ak47 to be a threat. Yet, even that wasnt severe enough to hold him and we was released no questions asked. Libs feel that murder is not serious enough to hold someone. They use cashless bail as an excuse to put anyone and everyone back on the street, regardless of how dangerous they are. We also see that with illegals who rape and murder people, lib cities put them back into the public without even notifying immigration. You can't argue that your party isn't pro crime
