Really gutted for Hunter. He had a great close that last 100.

Kicking hard in a slow 5k isn’t special for a 1500m specialist.

Nico ran the hardest/worst race possible and still made it—speaks well for his strength—must have ran another 200m bouncing around.

Hocker looked good though—will be interested to see if he can do what will be 5 rounds vs 3 for the other two.

Teare was 5th behind Hunter who isn't in the world ranking quota, so it depends on how Hunter's world ranking is by the time the team is named, doesn't it?

After counting both of these guys out, today has proved to me that Drew Hunter and Cooper Teare can continue to be factors for these teams. Either of them making LA28 would be storybook.

Hocker needs to do the right thing and drop the 5k to focus on the 1500m at Worlds. The people need to see Drew Hunter in a World championship race.

Credit to Hocker, I wasn’t a believer in his 5k ability and didn’t have him making the team. I know he ran 7:23 but he didn’t look good in any of his 5ks this year before this one. A 2:22 last 1k and 5:05 last 2k in a 13:26 race is solid. He might snag a minor medal in the right race in Tokyo.

So distracted by race for third, I almost missed who won.

What was that from Blanks though? I thought he had much more than that in him.

If anything though, this makes Jakob look more impressive because he closes faster in faster races in the 5000m

Sure, let Cole go to the front and slow it down for 11 laps then give the best kicker in the world the inside lane in the homestretch. What were these guys thinking?

Hocker has the ability to win gold if it’s a slow 5k.
