Did anyone interview the WVU coach or athletes post-race?
I have not seen it but their 3-4-5 were outstanding today. Knocked 30 seconds off their 1-5 spread while McCabe remained very low stick. Sarah Tait in particular.
Jourdon is a talented man. 47th over 10K and last year he always looked a step below Griffith, Koon, and Simmons over the longer races.
Obviosuly did very well in a relatively sit and kick NXN race, but seemed like more of a miler so for him to come out and excel over 10K is amazing.
He's good but nothing remarkable for a well-trained high mileage freshman national champ. Ritz was 4th his true freshman year. Nico was 11th. Graham Blanks was 23rd. Even old man Clinger was 24th his true freshman year.
It's hard to predict the trajectory of these young athletes. He could end up being like Ben Saarel(another Utah HS phenom) who was 8th as a frosh and 21st as a senior. Time will tell.
Graham Blanks took effectively a red shirt year (a gap year). JoJo is a true freshman.

Tait produced probably the best performance of her collegiate career. With season bests from the 3-4-5, I thought if Naukot stays within 15 sec of McCabe, the Mountaineers could win it all. Magnificent work from Cleary to turn what was in part a loose collection of strangers with a scattered range of talent into a tight, efficient squad with consistent, almost stealthy upticks in fitness, focus and tenacity.
Hats off to Coach Treacy and the Providence women as well.
Crazy that the Providence women could've potentially been national champs if Doyle was healthy this season. Unfortunately, they're graduating most of their top runners so this was the year.
What happened to Texas High School national champ Natalie Cook? She won Footlocker and NXN like 3 years ago. 1st time ever I think? I think Cook got 8th or 6th NCAA as a Freshman at Oklahoma. Transfered to Colorado as a sophomore, completely vanished. It's like top HS runner CA's Sara Baxter years ago at Oregon. Vanished after 1 year.

CA's Dalia Frias who stupidly went to Duke as a Freshman in 2022 or 2023, was in the top 6 High School girl runners in USA. She unwisely went into transfer portal earlier this year, and said was going to UCLA. Next day said Oregon. She has totally vanished! She should have stayed at UCLA for the academics.

She is at CO and ran this year but she had long periods of being injured.
What happened to BYU's non-Mormon Jenna Hutchins. She left HS a year early. Bogus and had like 2-3 very bad years. She finally had a come back in 10 K track 2024, 6th NCAA. Vanished again , didn't run today.

Do you get off on pointing out this stuff out, sparky?
Shoutout to Ella Hagen from the Southwest. 4th today. Very, very underrated runner by most despite being 10th at NXN last year. But this is her THIRD year qualifying for NXN as an individual. How many people in NXN history can that even be said about? Genuinely curious- has to be a short list.
NC State with 2 in the top 10. Didn't see both Hartman AND Gapes up that far. The Wolfpack will be back in it next year with both of these returning and adding Sadie Englehart.
And Stephens being back. They're going to be loaded next year. I see no reason that they shouldn't be the favorites to win it all - providing they stay healthy.
