One thing Nedd and/or team have massively dropped the ball is in the presentation of data. If he's paying someone to do the timing and distance, it wouldn't be that hard to update the distance after every lap, or at the worst, every master lap. He's hurt interest and fundraising by doing that, I'd say.
I have zero vested in Nedd whatsoever, literally no opinion on him, but had to make an account here just to say that you lot are the textbook definition of bitter narcissists who are projecting your own insecurities onto Nedd by trying to persuade yourselves that he's just like you. He has objectively done more good than you will ever do with millions raised for the vulnerable here in Australia, and tens of thousands of Aussies who have probably never exercised in their life inspired to get off their couches and go for a jog. To so DESPERATELY try to discredit his charity efforts by claiming the money's going to him instead of Mobilise, or ripping into the timing system when most past ultra records haven't been anywhere close to this meticulously tracked, or claim that he's nothing but an "attention seeking fraudelent narcissist," it does nothing but show what you lot think about yourselves. Downvote away, but this is such a sad corner of the internet and you should all take a step away from the computer and take a long hard look at yourselves when you're working yourselves into such a moral frenzy about a guy throwing himself out there and doing some legitimate objective good in the world. Now feel free to rant away about how you heard him swear at the Sydney Marathon or how he's discrediting the "integrity of the sport," whatever that means, but hopefully one day you reflect and realise how bitter you are.

Any runner could push as hard as he is. He's nothing special. Go to the streets of Melbourne or Chicago this Sunday morning and you'll see thousands of people who have sacrificed and put more blood, sweat and tears into their training than this clown.
I do agree with his followers in one regard though, he is "built different". As smart runners wouldn't ignore stress fractures in their tibia and keep pushing forward until it becomes a full break because the worst thing for a runner is being injured and not being able to run. At least if he continues and ruins his body bad enough he'll be injured for a while and we won't have to hear his BS for the next 6-12 months.

All these guys are the living, breathing embodiment of The Emperor's New Clothes. What I respect about Nedd is that he's at least put himself in a position to be found out (and he's clearly done his best here). That takes guts.
But again, to attack the people explaining pretty reasonably and rationally why he couldn't do it, wouldn't do it, and shouldn't claim to be able do it... You've been conned, and you're lashing out now your guy has been revealed to be less of an actual running talent than some of the people calmly explaining things to us in this thread.
I don't agree with the aspersions being cast about the fundraising - I think much of that is based on previous charlatans like Goodge etc. But you'd be naive to suggest that there's not a huge amount of personal gain being made here based on the exploitation of people like you buying into the myth/snake oil he's sold you on. Most of us here would probably prefer to celebrate and support real talent v insincere, fame-hungry social media influencers.

I very much understand differing opinions. If you read what I said, you'll see I never attacked the people who said he couldn't do it. That is totally reasonable, as I agree, I didn't think he could do it either. Now that you’ve asked I do believe him and his team are doing a really average job of promoting the charity he’s supporting but I’m sure you’d disagree with me and that’s fine - our opinions won’t change the result - if anything I think Nedd would be fuelled by the “haters” rightly or wrongly.
His last run was inspiring because it was unfathomabale to me that someone could run that far... This time the general consensus amongst me and my friends is that he’s given us the ick. Could be the mullet could be the arrogance could be a million different things but the vibes are off. Doesn’t mean I don’t like him I’m just not invested like I was the last time and thats okay!
I’ve noticed alot of the comments on this thread are fair and measured and backed up by data and people’s lived experiences in the ultra running community. The posters will often give credit where credit is due and wish him well but only in the last day or so have I noticed fans of Nedd coming here and absolutely piling on these people. They seem to be struggling with the difference between opinion and fact. It's not an insult to Nedd to acknowledge that he's not the runner he claimed to be (despite giving it a v good go) - the evidence is out there now. If he has any integrity, he'll acknowledge that himself. If he hasn't, he'll pick another challenge that's less easily scrutinized and find a way to fiddle it (ahem Will Goodge ahem).
People are welcome to still hold the opinion that Nedd is a world class runner (based on their feelings), we're welcome to ours that he's not (based on statistics). Only one opinion is evidenced, however...

Yes, Nedd 'liked' my post on Insta, but never reached out. One thing all the runfluencers have in common is a point-blank refusal to debate with doubters. Balenger blocked me immediately, WG never engages with a thing, whatever the question, and PJ did engage, but his manner started started poorly, tailed off in the middle and the less said about the end the better. These folks are in the 100% self-preservation business, and have no interest in discussing or debating why their claims are inaccurate or too grandiose.
Meanwhile, this is medieval from Nedd. I think he may indeed have a fracture and keeps having to stop for treatment. There are about 10 different ways he could become seriously unwell here with infection or a shocking bone break. But it really seems they're painted into a corner. His team should certainly be calling it, but they're terrified of him.
The reason Balenger and Goodge never had any of these problems on their 25,000kms of adventures is that if trouble or fatigue ever struck they could simply pass over the watch to a pal in the middle of a desert that saw about one car an hour, and of course they weren't directly tracked so had a burglar alarm system in place.
This graphic suffering is what happens when you can't run it as a relay.
Goodge goes in the Moab 240 tomorrow. It will be a bloodbath.

They are the ones using the timing system to claim it kept them from missing laps...the same timing system thatv has been unable to track such laps live and the same timing system that does not have the capability to discriminate between lanes as they have falsely claimed.
Today is the age of simple fun runs with live timing. They claim to have one of the best, but still rely on a verbal confirmation of "master lap completed" before update to Tiktok or strava
