That's a cute dog. Also is there a reason people thought he would not go to UW? A Washington miler with his father as the coach.
Some LR’er was claiming it a month ago. You could see the argument for being coached by your parent of either way, but UW’s success right now is hard to ignore.

Yeah at that time, someone mentioned that he was going to University of Wisconsin. No idea where he got that from. Maybe the person who said that mixed up Wisconsin with Washington? Kind of a common mistake

Yeah even if you ignore the coach being his parent. It is in state so cheaper and they have had great success with milers which he is.
I have not seen college announcements for the following. Did I miss something? Mackenzie De Lisle Norah Hushagen Teanne Ewings Dylan McElhinney Oluwatosin Awoleye
as an aside, as there are some questions at times as to what times an athletes need for college interest, I see this on the Columbia site (in addition to 1400 SAT).

What does in state have to do with it?
If he really was going to Wisconsin, it would be on scholarship.
I believe in his case, he gets free tuition at Washington anyway via his parents contracts.
Some kids just want to go away for college. I grew up in Illinois and did undergrad in New England, grad in CA, and post grad in Europe. It just would not have mattered what my home State offered financially, I just wanted to see something new.

Mackenzie DeLisle committed to UF in August 2024. However, aside from the Milesplit article covering her commitment, it looks like that’s been scrubbed from the interwebs and she apparently did not sign.
I’ve seen nothing from the 4 remaining 2025 girls on your list. You should add Elizabeth Smits (Southlake Carroll, TX), as she is a Top 100ish girl. Otherwise, the Top 150+ distance girls from the US appear to be committed.

The great thing about this is that are likely 100+ HS girls who aren't in the top 150 who will be better than the majority of the 'Top 150' you mention.
Now, don't get all offended, I didn't say who would beat all of the top 150... just the majority of them. This happens year in and year out.

Good luck proving that out with 2024. Give it a shot and welcome to the sport.

You'd be wrong, friend, it will be easy to prove. It's the same every year.

Not really. Here's what usually happens.
From top 10 girls a few don't pan out, but sometimes as many as 8.
From girls 40-150, a few surprise and get a lot better.
From outside top 150, maybe 1-2 will make an impact.
99% of those who make All-American, or help a podium team will be from top 150, even top 50.
Ladies who 'come from nowhere' like Purrier, Schweizer, Valby, Monson etc turn out upon review to have actually been top 150, just not at national level in hs.
No one can tell us now who these runners will be, but when it happens...many will post and say 'they could tell in hs that x would improve' or 'their coach deliberately saved them for college'.

It's simple.
First of all a top 150 list is completely subjective. It is not some exact list that can't be challenged.
My statement was about the top 150. Not the top 10.
Of the the "top 150" (whatever that is) likely 30% will either be injured their entire career or just find other interests. Another 30% just will not improve and will have run their fastest times as high schoolers. (yes, those are subjective percentages but not off terribly)
If you don't think I can find over 100 girls that will be faster than that 60% I have listed you just don't understand the history of running.
Broken down my statement says there are 100+ girls who aren't on the list that will end up being faster than 75 of the girls on the list.
I never said there are 100+ girls who you have never heard of who will be NCAA champions.

I agree with your premise, but Valby was 7th fastest (10:10) in US hs 3200 her junior year, and Monson was 12th fastest (10:28) in 2015 her junior year so they did not "come from nowhere". Even Elle and Karissa were well inside the top 100 in the 1500 their senior year I believe.

Valby is still one of the most improved runners post high school. I’ve never heard the name in 2020 and before. I don’t think she ran in any national meets. She ran at Footlocker regionals and NXR and didn’t make nationals for either
