Huge track nerd and certified official here. USATF Rule 169.4:
Each competitor shall go over or through the water and shall go over each hurdle. An athlete shall be disqualified if he/she: (a) Steps to one side or the other of any hurdle or water jump; or (b) Has a leg or foot, at the instant of clearance, beside the hurdle (on either side) below the horizontal plane of the top of any hurdle. Provided this Rule is observed, an athlete may go over each hurdle in any manner.
Placing your hand on on the barrier whilst hurdling is not an advantage (time-wise). Otherwise, every athlete would do it.

Frerichs posted on IG a couple hours ago that she developed significant pain in her surgically repaired ankle over the last day or so, to the point it was difficult to walk. Wisely decided to DNS.
How about a little more love for Nikki? I've been following them since their High School days. From Aptos H.S. (where they had a great coach-Dan Gruber) to Oregon, to Arkansas. That might be the reason that I found the women's 1500 to be the most exciting event of the championships so far. Nikki showing up at the starting line wearing a pair of old-school shorts was classic Nikki. Why hasn't anyone mentioned that not only did 'they' out kick everyone, but was significantly pulling away the last ten meters. I really wish this non binary thing hadn't become such a big deal, but obviously it has. I see Nikki's mother running occasionally in Nisene Marks Park and she uses the 'they,' 'them,' 'their' words also. I figured if her parents are heeding Nikki's wishes, I should too.
Question: Is Anna Cockrell the most beautiful woman in track & field? A unique, not classic, kind of beauty.
Why? She’s had an amazing career thus far. Very few in history have been as consistent as her at an event that is known for short careers. Show some respect.
I was there - one of her shoes fell off (or someone stepped on her and the shoe came off - I didn't see that part) and she had to step off the track. She was clearly gutted, on her hands and knees crying. She didn't seem injured and was able to walk off after a minute or so, but I felt so terrible for her.
In order to compete, Hiltz has to choose. She qualifies for the female division so I have no complaint about it regardless of her preference for a non-binary personal designation. He choice doesn't cheat anyone.
Interesting. So non-binary females should be allowed to compete because it is the "female division", but transwomen should be allowed to compete because it is the "woman's division". Pick one and be consistent, please.
Don't be obtuse. I wrote nothing about transgendered individuals and where they should race. Consistency doesn't require that I believe that a trans women should compete with in the women's division (which I don't and have said so in the past) just because I believe a person born as a woman and biologically presenting as a woman can compete in the women's division even if personally identifying as non-binary. They are different situations even if your bigotry suggests otherwise.

Awww that stinks. I am becoming more and more a fan of hers and was rooting for her underdog story.
