Official Covid Vaccine thread

Call me crazy but I don’t think any of you are convincing anyone on this board. Everyone seems pretty dug in to their pro or anti Covid vaccine stance at this point lol.

The latest UKHSA report did come out today. The Table 12 data that calculates rates was riddled with errors. I e-mailed them to let them know their spreadsheet wasn't calculating correctly, hopefully they will amend it, as their table appears to be looking up population data incorrectly for some of the age groups. The cases, hospitalizations and deaths tallies were valid, so I ran a comparison with the week 51 data to see where things were changing and here are the takeaways:

Cases increased across all age groups, vaccinated or not (about an 80% increase for vaccinated individuals compared to 36% increase for unvaccinated individuals). The rate of increase among vaccinated individuals was about double what it was for unvaccinated individuals. Sharpest rise was among those 70 and above.

Hospital ER visits increased across all age groups, with the exception of 40-59 unvaccinated individuals who actually had a decrease in visits. The overall rate of increase among vaccinated individuals was more than triple what it was for unvaccinated individuals. The only vaccinated group that saw a less steep increase than unvaccinated groups was the under 18 category that had about a 5% lower increase than the unvaccinated group (vaccinated hospital visits increased by 89.8% for vaccinated individuals and 94.5% unvaccinated individuals in the under 18 category). For the 30-69 age groups, hospitalizations held essentially flat for unvaccinated individuals (2273 vs 2253) and increased by 55% for vaccinated individuals (3701 vs 2386). The sharpest rise was among the old and the young. Under 29 hospital visits increased by 336% among vaccinated individuals (857 vs 255) and 194% among unvaccinated individuals (1649 vs 850). Over 70 hospital visits increased by 229% among vaccinated individuals (4,831 vs 2345) and 138% among unvaccinated individuals (816 vs 590).

Deaths over the 4-week period remained relatively flat, with a slight increase of 7.5% overall.

Wrong. I am convincing people. Because I hate masks, restrictions, fearmongering, etc. And I hate the idea of mandates of masks or vaccines.

BUT I believe the vaccine is saving lives and keeping people from being hospitalized/dying and the benefits outweigh the risks. I believe that if you don't fear the virus you shouldn't fear the vaccine.

Being able to believe something that isn't the status quo means there might be a person or two who don't just scroll right past what I'm saying.

Conveniently left out that rates of hospital care and death remain 5-10X higher among the unvaccinated. Especially in higher risk age groups.

Exactly in line with the summarized vaccine effectiveness earlier in the report.

Of course, the repeated warnings about overinterpreting raw rates plastered all over the table don't even give you pause.

It would have been easier and far more clear to say with omicron full (2 dose) vaccination effectiveness against hospitalization within 6 months is 64% and around 90% with a recent booster, as in Table 2.

However, if misdirection is the goal then your version is a truly impressive bit of work.

If my goal was misdirection, I would say stuff like: the hospitalization rate is only 35% higher among unvaccinated individuals than among vaccinated individuals (true but deceiving, other than for Harambe's age group, where it is actually true), That hospitalization rates are only 2.2 times higher for those who are unvaccinated than those who are vaccinated for the 0-29 year age category and the 18-69 working age category. The only age group with protection that comes close to Harambe's 5-10 times claim is the 0-17 age group, the majority of which (0-12) isn't even eligible for vaccination in the UK (and with Omicron, this age group is not an insignificant contributor to hospitalizations). The 70+ category has approximately 4 times protection, largely due to boosters, which will eventually fade, and they will be faced with yet another dilemma in 2-3 months of whether or not to boost again (just as Israel is facing as their daily cases are now quintuple what they were during any previous wave.

Why do we have to have vaccines and booster vaccines for this thing to go endemic? Fauci is acting like it won't do it without them, and also ignoring the fact that if we don't get the world vaccinated we are pushing on a string as far as him or anyone else in the U.S. making a global pandemic endemic.

Newsome says it's over in two weeks no more spikes. For sure we aren't all going to be vaxxed in two weeks.

Does anyone remember when the CDC, for many many years, defined a vaccine as: "A product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease."

Now it's: "A preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases"

Would any of you be interested in watching what could be my final moments on stream? I don’t know what I’m going to do but I might die so that would be cool to watch maybe

Alrighty guys heading out of town for my vaccine in an hour. Have to drive 45 minutes to even find a place that offers J&J. Hopefully the updates will stop soon.

I might actually just kill myself before I go, I know it isn’t as dramatic as a weed/vaccine related death, but I really do hate getting injections and would hate for one I’m being given forcefully to be one of my last experiences. Think I should carbon monoxide myself in my car instead?

It sounds like you're looking for attention. Don't kill yourself with carbon monoxide or the vaccine.

Well I didn’t go the CO route, and now I’m sitting here in my spot waiting for my injection. It is quite surreal knowing this could be my last night alive, but I also welcome this. I’ve wanted it for a long time, especially since this worldwide song and dance started.
