Actually, after the violent overthrow of the democratically elected pro Russian Govt in Kiev in 2014 led by Victoria Nuland and other neocons in the US admin, Kiev began killing Russian ethnics in Donbas who did not want to go along with the insurrection and continued to do so for 8 years before Russia intervened. A deal for peace was arranged in which Donbas would be an independent state but was ignored by Kiev and the killing went on. The neocons want to use the Ukrainian people's blood to weaken Russia
