Well seeing that six of the top seven companies are technology, and the seventh BRK has a market cap dominated by its Apple holdings, it should not be surprising. I would be more inclined to look at the 2019 to 2020 PEs, Troll.

Then why did you post today’s PEs, troll?

yes, but the question becomes, not if the market is headed lower, but if tech relative to the market is headed lower. Different question. And particularly interesting how one of those massive unexpected events happened this year, yet Tech finds a way to still outperform.
well this event was great for tech...couldn't have been more supportive. Tech's ability to connect people from all over/work from home/buy without a bricks/mortar store benefitted from this crisis.
The next crisis could be different, and go against tech's strengths.
Plus the government regulation problem is rearing its head again...although that never seems to make too much difference, does it? Would a divestiture of Instagram really wreck Facebook as a company? Nah.
I guess that's fair. No one could have predicted a pandemic like this would actually happen and that it would unfold pretty much perfectly to boost tech. I can't think of something that would specifically be bad for tech right now, but obviously the pandemic is an example that big headwinds do occur

One of youse argued that Trump couldn't do much with federal land - something about how the exec branch didn't lease out federal land. I can't remember which of you it was.
Here's the WH doing what it can to exploit the land.
That was me. My argument was that this happens frequently. Some goon or lobbyist in Congress of the White House manages to get the legislature passed. it makes headlines and everyone celebrates/decries the event. It's all for show and that's it.
The reality is that it pretty much stops there. Banks aren't funding these projects because the negative visibility is way too high. Same with insurance companies - you're just not gonna be able to secure it. What's left over is maybe a few desperate drilling companies trying to scrape the bottom of the financing barrel for a few billion and, to the credit of activist organizations, they get challenged every step of the way and it turns out no many people wanna put up that.
So, Breaking News! Federal Lands Now Subject to Drilling Despite the Fact That No One Requested It

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is rushing to approve a final wave of large-scale mining and energy projects on federal lands, encouraged by investors who want to try to ensure the projects move ahead even after President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. takes office.
In Arizona, the Forest Service is preparing to sign off on the transfer of federal forest land — considered sacred by a neighboring Native American tribe — to allow construction of one of the nation’s largest copper mines.
In Utah, the Interior Department may grant final approval as soon as next week to a team of energy speculators targeting a remote spot inside an iconic national wilderness area — where new energy leasing is currently banned — so they can start drilling into what they believe is a huge underground supply of helium.
In northern Nevada, the department is close to granting final approval to construct a sprawling open-pit lithium mine on federal land that sits above a prehistoric volcano site.

Good for President Trump. Terrible that we allow ourselves to be dependent on China for important minerals because of a bunch of radical “environmentalists”.
Wife and firm are working all weekend (I have been up since 4 supplying coffee and researching bitcoin?) on a proposal to do an EIS for a proposed underground Cu-Ni-Co-Pt group mine, immediately adjacent a nationally-protected wilderness area.
Yes the sector is in panic mode, trying to strike while the iron is hot.
mas, sounds like your wife is in a similar (but not the same) line of work as me. Would be cool to know more.
Maserati,
Son just completed a project for Metallica. Couldn’t name a song of theirs, but familiar with the name.

Igy, I know, right.
Funny how these coincidences show just how close we really are after all!
Well, last night i was lifting in my home gym in the basement, listening to one of my fav shows, a kind of once per week alternative/punk rock show on a local station before my wife came down and told me to turn it down, and though they didn't play any metallica that i am aware of, they did play a song along those lines that i thought would be perfect to share with my compadres here on DGTD.
Happy Holidays guys, and you, too Sally(?), I offer up "Christmas With the Devil"

Excellent! Strange, but many of these guys you would figure are almost deaf appreciate a quality sound system. I guess they like whatever they CAN hear to sound good!??
Hi Idiot, she is a licensed architect who now works with an eng firm doing proposals and reports. Before arch she had BSc in limnology/biochem, and as an arch she is a project mgr (now does her own projects from an office we set up). Without her they would be effed. They have begged her not to leave, but she will.
Btw she is the source of 1/3 of my contacts with the uber billionaire class. They let their architects in close and personal, and seem to like me because I want/need nothing from them, and a few of them actually think I’m funny?. Gadzooks. It’s always funny to be the guy who shows up in a Prius, surrounded by exotics. The stories...
Am busy framing a response to a fed RFC, I might actually go ahead with it over the holidays. The whole area is a mess, it will be difficult to tell them that the solution to their problem requires much more than they are looking to undertake. Nobody wants to hear that, but it needs to be said. Again.

Saw the movie when I was like 13 and was promised "the funniest movie of all time." Didn't understand it at all and haven't watched it since then. Probably was too young for it

Mas, neat to hear that. I'm kind of close to that line of work as well, to that of your wife's. Touching on another subject, got credentials after my name in the form of letters, but virtually never use them, except in professional circles. But fully support those that do.
Hey, how bout that stimuls/relief bill. haven't dug into it yet but sounds like it might be a little light helping out the people hurting from losing jobs and work, etc.

You obviously can’t. I don't know why you keep trying. You must like losing almost as much as GOI.
Losing is the Troll that makes an obsession a profession....

Oh, the irony!
Seattle and Maserati,
The gentleman that my son communicated with was their technician. I told my son I couldn’t name a Metallica song. He described it as “conservative” hard rock. ?
