American Republicans and many Democrats are Intellectually situated where the majority of Germans were in the 1920s and 1930s, sitting all too comfortably in false narratives about how their nation got to a certain stage. For post-WWI Germany, they were led to believe they had not been militarily defeated. They did not know their monarch and legislature had both been sidelined by a junta while the war progressed. They did not know of the atrocities their army had committed on the Eastern, Western, and Italian fronts. They did not know that the depredations of trench warfare had traumatized a generation of young men, turning some toward fatalism and others toward a wickedness. I believe strongly that my fellow Americans are largely lacking in deep knowledge of how their nation has utterly botched the post-Cold War era. They think they "won" that war. They think the post-war was an inheritance carrying the impremature of "victory". It is a narrative entirely their own. They do not see how their formerly egalitarian system has become mired in cronyism and kleptocracy, and their petty wars are fanning the flames of local conflicts that are perilous for future generations.

I hope so too. Nothing would bring on impeachment faster than for Trump to order the firing of the special prosecutor.

No, he is. And remember he is also impulsive. The moment it is not going "his way" he could fire him. In Trump's mind it will make him look tough and he might even believe he's stalling the investigation. This is working out great for Dems, the longer this drags on for, regardless of the outcome, the more support and political capital Trump loses. This was supported by both parties with Trump crying witch hunt by himself. Looks like the beginning of some new dynamics. If he fvcks up enough, he will be disowned by the GOP so they can retain as much power as possible. He is a parasite.

Trump's speech will have to weave many threads and tread very carefully. It will be quite interesting to see the Saudi reception and reaction. If Trump can execute, this will be great for the world. We already know they respect him more than they ever did Obama, despite Trump's supposed "Islamophobia." I remain hopeful.

Exactly. Even with the media, academia and entertainment industry fully behind her, Hillary couldn't even manage 20% of the counties Trump did. He swept the heartland and she only carried the population centers. Coastal cities where proximity and population create group-think devoid of variation. Cities where economic activity booms, where some residents live 70 stories above the streets in $20 million penthouses (Trump Tower anyone?) while others scurry for scraps on the curbs. But when we conceive this in terms of families - those affected most by Obamacare's failings and onerous tax structures - we see that Trump won every family with an annual income of $50,000 and up. Hard-working families that care about security and prosperity wanted (and still want) Trump. Based on emerging economic indicators, I'd say he's doing very well on that front. That 36% number is the problem. The counties he won should be generating well over 36% of output, and Trump knows that. Hence: the emphasis on manufacturing and ending corporate inversion.

As for 'praising the man-child,' yea I've seen that. Virtually every newspaper has been running the same story - as they always do. The Harvard Study finding 80% of media coverage negative toward Trump couldn't be more telling. The media bias never relents. It's obvious how they've filled your brain...

The media is reporting facts that Trump doesn't like. You'd think a New York real estate developer would have a tough skin, he does not. He's soft and whiny and complains a lot.

Take Flynn for example. It's absolutely true and verified that he was a registered foreign agent, took money from Russia, and that Obama, Sally Yates, and others warned Trump about this.

The media reports it, and somehow it's seen as an attack on Trump. It is not. It's the media reporting the facts about a bad hire, which shows poor judgement on Trump's part.
