coaching staff confirmes it.
I'm just hoping that everyone is done making final decisions on hires this week.
It's really unfair to have coaches with families to have to wait this long. How much are you valuing these people if you're putting them in a position of staying where they are or having no job security. Not to mention the stress of having to relocate quickly, yank kids out of school, and adjust to a new job in a short time.
At this point entire staffs are already gelling and teams know the coaches so if I'm a person that's just being hired after September then I already know I'm either a last choice or not a valued staff member

Please excuse my ignorance, what "bad hires" were made this summer and what makes them "bad hires"? I'm just really curious how you're evaluating these coaches and what qualifies you to critique their performance?
Reasonable people will agree that, no one except the staff know what is going on within a program except that staff. That being said, how can YOU (an outsider) berate a coach for not meeting YOUR expectations of success? You don't know the staff, support staff, student-athletes, administration, scholarship allotments, team dynamics, etc. All those factors contribute to the success or lack of success any coach experiences.
I would like to know your particular accomplishments and failures. Are you willing to be critiqued by the same standards you're holding these coaches to? If so please provide us with your resume and training philosophy so we can all benefit from your expertise. I'm NOT at all being condescending or sarcastic, I just want to be a better coach and have an opportunity to learn from someone that knows how to get it done.
I have no clue who it is you’re having this arguement with but geez I would suggest getting laid first, that should take the edge off. From there, I’m sure you could be a much calmer, reasonable coach which usually helps with decision making skills. You’re either a young kid eager to swing his pecker for contest or bitter about your situation. If a coach gets a hire based on his past relationships(former coach, etc) more power to him. But If he hasn’t proven himself likely it will be shown in a few years if he was deserving of that position. You put mark wetmore at a bottom of the conference team, in a few year I bet your ass you’ll see some improvement.

Soooo did they kick Clive Pullen to the curb that fast?
True story ...stranger then fiction. Memphis has made offer. It’s been accepted. Release coming soon. Shock and Awe! I’m getting a tingly feeling running up my leg just thinking about it.

It comes with the job; if you think it is "unfair" then find a new profession.
Who are the finalists for KU jumps? Heard they have started interviews
Clive Pullen was a jumper at Arkansas. It is a Clive though, not sure of his last name. He was applying for every job under the sun after he was hired at Missouri State, so maybe he got a better opportunity. Not sure why he was released from UCONN.

Definitely wasn't looking for advice. If you can't tell the difference between an opinion post and someone looking for help then find a new thread.

Sorry, I’ve worked at the highest levels of every NCAA division. Power5 is the only one where we consistently put in 60hr+ weeks. D3 was fun and there were some great coaches there but overwhelmingly, they weren’t getting fired for only working 40hr weeks. Big time athletics is big time!
This is such a broad generalization that it has no truth to it. There are D1 programs where coaches put in 100+ hours a week and there are also programs that have coaches with little kids that only putting in 40-50 hours. There are D3 programs where coaches only put in 40 hours and there are coaches that put in a constant workload. Neither division has a monopoly on long work hours. Also, sometimes D3 programs require that you have a second role such as Director of Intramurals or Assistant SID that easily pushes you over 100 hours.
But as a former D3 sprints/jumps/hurdles coach, here was a typical week during the fall which had the least amount of hours. This hypothetical schedule is 90 hours. Again, many weeks required me to help out at soccer and basketball games, which easily crossed over 100 hours. Spring semester was even worse as trips and meets would last 2-3 days. And as an assistant coach with sprinters and the only kids qualifying for nationals, I was always the first coach to arrive and last coach to leave with no weekends off. I worked much longer hours than the head coach responsible for distance runners, because none of his/her athletes made nationals and they made the "younger" coaches responsible for things they should have been doing themselves.

Gag you sound like a whiny, entitled child who thinks everything should revolve around them. Its a business and you can either accept or reject the opportunity. The school isn't trying to screw with anyone, they're just going through their process and it happens to be inconvenient. And by the way, its a small school job paying $45k/year. You're not a valued staff member.
