Do those pitying RY or hoping he finishes this thing realize that RY has to be watched 24/7?

As soon as Laz, Ray et al leave, we'll start seeing miraculous 70-80 mile days again. No doubt about it. And they'll attribute it to sausage rolls, double espressos, and sugar.

Laz, Ray, and company deserve huge congrats for all their work. I hope they disregard the jokes about them and ultrarunners. If it wasn't for them, RY would be in Pennsylvania now well on his way to a self-proclaimed WR that would be untouchable by anyone doing it legitimately. Remember, RY was something like 3 days ahead of schedule when he was still way out west.

These temps are all at weather stations nearby. Needles is a little further down the river, and lower in elevation than Bullhead City and Laughlin, so it will be a few degrees warmer. Not sure about the elevation in the Hwy 95 corridor, but I'd bed it's a little higher, and probably a few degrees cooler. Also, desert temps are pretty low at night, and creep up during the day, maxing out between 1 and 4, so I'm betting it was in the 70s and 80s while he was crossing to 95, and then 80s for the rest of his run. Yeah, it was dry, and his sweat helped him cool off, but what about water? 4 hours in those conditions with a handheld? I can't recall seeing any gear for carrying water--I thought he's been sporting little plastic disposable water bottles a lot in the photos...

How long does Laz plan to stay with him?

Walking/ running 48 miles per day is a lot more difficult than you think.

In the LANY Footrace 2011 it took me an average of over 11hours for the average stage of 46miles per day. Of course it was summer with record highs in Oklahoma.

You might walk one day 48miles in 12 hours but not for a month or more. It would take you way longer. People overestimate what they can run/walk over multipe days.

*By pitying, I wish him no ill will. The only way I see this thing ending is (A) he gets seriously hurt, not just pain from thrashed muscles, or (B) making it to NYC.

And B has two ways it could play out. (B1) Under supervision but only at 40 miles a day at most. It does not sound like he will quit even if he stumbles and falls on his face every mile the rest of the way. His entire career and reputation are on the line and he knows it. (B2) No supervision and sudden bursts of 70-80 miles in the RV again.

I hope he does not get seriously hurt. But I hope he learns a painful lesson with thrashed muscles and public shame not to cheat.

It may look easy on paper, but it's a lot harder than that.

I'm not IT literate enough to edit my earlier post, even if that were possible, so to answer the queries which came up:

- Nancy Bennett was the 'bunny / rabbit woman' and she is a RY supporter, but reports confusion in originally finding him as she couldn't see him running but he stepped out from behind the RV. She posts on FB as a supporter of RY. He has a number of other vociferous FB supporters who have contributed to this discussion, including Kevin O'Rourke (CoachKev).

- He claimed to ride for team Milram, who deny all knowledge and cite a number of cyber attempts to modify their web listings of former athletes to insert his name. I alluded to this in the 'number of inconsistencies' bit - it's probably one where there is a grain of truth - he tried out for them? Rode once in their shirt? I don't know.

- The three charities are the UK "Dreams Come True", and the US "100 Mile Club" and "Tyler Robinson Foundation". The UK charity is appropriately registered with the Charity Commission and has audited accounts, and will be receiving DIRECT any contributions from major UK donation sites such as virginmoney or justgiving. There is nothing to indicate a financial link between DCT and RY. I have no knowledge of the US charity regulatory system, so cannot comment on the legitimacy or otherwise of those, or whether RY has any financial gain / links to them.

My feeling is that Dustin is the manipulator behind a lot of this, and Rob may be somewhat of a puppet. That would tie in with those who believe there is a psychological / mental health concern for Rob stemming from early years abuse. Never forget that one person's abusive experience / PTSD trigger may be day-to-day normal for another - we are in no place to judge how much of the alleged abuse happened, or the psychological effect it may have had on Rob. However (put on cod psychoanalyst hat) someone who had an abusive childhood without a consistent father figure may find emotional security in surrounding himself with 'powerful' fantasy men who make promises of glory and riches, trying to assuage the unhappy inner little boy. That could explain RY's extraordinary ability to dig deep through what is clearly a very painful time right now.

The sun would put the beat down on you.....any exposed skin would be burnt to a crisp. Sounds easy, but the weather would be the biggest challenge.

Stings doesn't it. You know it does. Deep down inside you know your best days (like breaking an hour for a 10K) are far behind you. All you have left now is to pull on that fannypack, strap on that bandana and go out in the woods and do what most people call a hike, and call it a "ultra-marathon."

I want to personally thank all the "Math Investigators" for quietly working in the background of this thread, and actually trying to provide evidence of Rob's cheating. Their contribution, through a very small percentage of posts, is going to be only way in which to out Rob when all is said and done. They are the quiet heroes in this saga.

Math is what got Mike Rossi in the end (although no pics of him on the race course didn't help!).

So thanks to Asher, 113, team1.klm, The day the RV broke down, Just finished a 64 mile run, Markus, noobrunner, rhizomes, and Real Laz. I apologize if I forgot anyone else who has been "doing the math". You are all doing an impressive job of keeping Rob's feet to the fire.
