I imagine it's a way to add mystery and hype. It suggests Phily needed to respond regarding the wild speculation and chatter about a well-known pro's lacklustre performance.

I skimmed through it, and on first glance it seemed genuine. Also, It would have been easy for the ego to get the best and just DNF.

The odd part is the insane number of jump cuts. Even in sections like 'Reflections,' there are cuts almost every second, which makes the experience quite disorienting. Phily is reasonably articulate; the editing makes me think they are contriving a story rather than letting her genuine thoughts flow.

I wonder what these shoetibers do with all the merch they receive? It must be a decent chunk of their income when they offload it. Has anyone been able to find ebay accounts for them?

There's absolutely no reason they couldn't apply for a license, but it's just a pure money-maker and people flock to 'be involved'. It's a great example of what's killing the sport

I suspect 99% of the runners at any half in the UK have no idea what UKA licensing is and have never heard of Power of 10 but would still count it as PB if they ran one there (as would I). Not being sub-elite or better I view Power of 10 as irrelevant to me.

Why does the Camera have to be sooo close to her head that i can see the really poor filter they have used on her skin?

Why does she keep on talking about a big swing when in reality she ran the downhill at the normal required time and the rest nowhere near the time?

It truly is such a good lesson for the kids to learn that their lives revolve around their fake-social-media-famous-aging-narcissistic father, and any rewards are based entirely on their father’s success or failure. Great parenting!

It also means you can't use the time to qualify for any other big races. Plenty of non sub-elites would look to use a sub 71:30 or sub 86:00 as a pathway to the London marathon.

His girlfriend films on her iphone while cheering from the sidelines the entire time until Ben loses it and says 'QUITE SODDING STEPPING ON MY LINES WHAT THE F IS WRONG WITH YOU?' and the segment quietly ends

The huge kicker at the end is all the Shoetubers are assembled as a chorus, eaching holding a candle. They perform a sick cover of SEASONS OF LOVE as featured in the hit musical Rent. "How do you measure love? 525,600 pairs of shoes. 121,000 subscribers. 48 trips a year paid for by Asics. How about LLLIKKKKKKEEEE."

The crowd absolutely sh*ts their pants and adoring parasocial fans crush each other trying to give their money to our assemblage of heros

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with going there and claiming it, but ultimately Po10 is the UK’s official database of race results post a certain year. And it won’t be on there.
Let’s be real, 99% of runners outside of any half probably don’t care about any races full stop and would use their own GPS to go off and count their PB. If you’re entering a race you’re doing it to be published as “official”, in my eyes.
Regardless, my point was more to highlight that it’s just another reason it’s a joke how expensive it is and how the fanfare surrounding it drives me up the wall as it’s simply one massive marketing event masquerading as a serious race.
Plus, as mentioned above you’ll inevitably get the people claiming they’re “championship qualifiers” who can’t actually apply with that time
