Rand Paul's recent negative (and really obvious) comments about the SOUTHCOM boat strikes make me realize that the lack of resistance from the GOP is probably even worse than I thought, and that's really saying something.
I think that the conventional wisdom about why more GOP resistance to Trump doesn't happen is some combination of fear (death threats, etc.), and blind ambition (getting primaried). Regarding the first reason, perfectly healthy people like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger - and MANY others - have been proving that wrong for a bunch of years now. Regarding the second reason, GOP members DO extremely sporadically but explicitly resist Trump - like Paul just did. They either won't be primaried, or are resisting the fear of being primaried.
Which suggests to me that we absolutely COULD have a mass resistance to Trump coming from GOP Reps and/or Senators that would not be impeded by those 2 oh-so-scary prospects.
And yet it doesn't happen, and one assumes, won't ever.
Which leaves me with the following conclusion: It's not mostly about fear, and it's not mostly about ambition. It's SIMPLY about a lack of character. What Trump and Trumpism is doing drives good Americans - and good people - crazy. Those GOP politicians are simply not very good Americans or people. It doesn't drive them crazy. Sure, they might roll their eyes or make a few derisive comments in private. But by and large, Trump and Trumpism just doesn't bother them much. Of course, nationwide, they have plenty of company, unfortunately.
Yes. This is true. All the people in the GOP with moral fortitude have left office. Resigned. And these are people on the inside. They know how things work and what their prospect are for success opposing Trump.
It is hard to imagine not doing the same myself if I was in that positon. Why take a stand when the voters voted him back into office? This is what the ignorant American people voted for.
Look, if we can, rightfully, pat a person on the back for putting on a uniform and going to fight for their country, and perhaps be injured or killed in the process, then we COULD expect a (probably walking dead and ostracized) GOP Senator or Rep. to speak the obvious truth about what this President is doing for 1-4 years. That ain't charging a machine gun nest kind of stuff. And we should expect it.
Sally Vix falls into the most pathetic category of Trumper. Unlike your NoYankee types who are all in and celebrate all that Trump is, dictator and all, Sally plays a game where she pretends to hate Trump to make it seem like she has morals. And she dismisses Trump's criminality, corruption and immorality by saying she was forced to vote for Trump because of the democrats. Not her fault. Trying to excuse her personal responsibility for everything Trump does to our country.
The reality is that there is no Democratic Candidate that she or any Trumper would vote for. And there was no republican candidate that she would vote for besides Trump. Republicans had Nikki Haley and others but the cult love of the criminal, sexual deviant Trump was too strong. They wanted all that Trump is. They are just ashamed to admit it.
I don't pretend that I dislike strongly Trump as a person. But the alternative is much worse. Karen Bass, Hillary and Kamala - come on - that trio is about as bad as it gets. You do have people in your party that I would vote for but the radicals in your party control everything and would never allow a moderate to run for president.
Let’s hear the Democrat you would choose over Trump.
The Ronald Reagan Foundation has just announced that Canada has fraudulently used an advertisement, which is FAKE, featuring Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about Tariffs. The ad was for $75,000,000. They only did this to interfere with the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, and other courts. TARIFFS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY, AND ECONOMY, OF THE U.S.A. Based on their egregious behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT

Not for president, but if Trump and Fetterman were running for same Senate seat I could go with Fetterman. I am trying to think of other Dem moderates and the media only covers AOC, Chuck Schumer, Bernie, the Squad and other radicals.
Shame. What a disgrace. Paging ICE, continue the good work to make sure nothing like this happens again. Godspeed today ICE and Border Patrol, go to work!

A funny admission that your talk of not (probably exclusively) watching Fox News and consuming MSM is complete BS. Because if you did, you'd easily be able to come up with a few other names. The fact that you can ONLY squeeze out AOC, Schumer, Bernie, and the Squad is almost certainly proof of that.

For 10 years you have been excusing yourself for voting for Trump because it's the Democrats fault for fielding bad candidates. Now you can't name a single person in the country that you would have voted for instead of Trump.
Take your lies elsewhere. You love Trump no matter who he runs against. You are just like the cultists but you aren't as honest with yourself.
Watch the whole Reagan video and you will see the Toronto ad is accurate.
Trump launched an attack against Canada last night. What are the odds that he blocks the Dodgers for entering Canada for game one of the World Series set for tonight?

Also funny that you found no need to explain why Fetterman is preferable to Trump for Senator, but NOT for most powerful person in the world. Quite the omission!

Pathetic.
I haven't watched Fox News in 10 years. 10 years. The last shows I watched regularly were Rachel Maddow, Joy Reid, Larry O'Donnell and Chris whatever his last name is.

Joy Reid, Rachel and the rest of the clown shows that is MSNBC never have moderates on their show. They want their guests to be aligned with their radical far left philosophies. Would any of these ladies ever have a moderate Dem who is pro-life? Of course not. Our way or the highway.

As Senator Fetterman would be limited as to the damage he could do to the country. As president the damage he could do could be country-ending.
Oddly enough, this guy may have some mental issues, but I would agree that he is the best Dem candidate in years.
Let's start a club. Agreed? We will convene every time we earn a combined 100 downvotes.
Also, Fetterman is the real deal. He's got problems. Like, real problems...but he's unlike any politician we've seen in a long time. He stands up to his own party.
Edit: since video won't embed, here is what he said when asked why Dems lost in 2024:
John Fetterman wrote:
I don’t know why, and I have always refused to say that. When Vice President Harris referred to President Trump as a ‘fascist,’ and I knew, absolutely, we lost the plot at that point. If you call the president or someone like a fascist, you are effectively calling the people who are going to vote for him [the same thing], and then they must be fascist too … or they support fascism and those things. And that is just not true.

If this doesn’t scream Nobel Peace prize, I don’t know what does.

I understand what you're saying, but you're missing the most fundamental point: SV is a troll and will say anything that he thinks will yield the responses that he, like any other troll, so desperately craves.
You're taking his posts at face value; there's no reason to think that any particular post represents his true opinion on anything (other than his desire to have you engage) or a true statement of his life or history.
Many people got wise to SV and started blocking his Sally Vix posts. This is one reason why we keep seeing different unblockable aliases: It can take a little while before people realize that this name too is just SV and scroll past his posts without reading them or responding to them.
Yeah, it's easy to forget, but should never be forgotten: It wasn't, FIRST, Trump versus Clinton and Biden and Harris. In total, it was Trump versus a WHOLE BUNCH of other much, much, much more respectable (and actual) Republicans. And they all lost, easily. Of course, this is completely consistent with Trump's continuing 80-90% approval rating amongst Republicans. THEY LIKE HIM.
We don't like him. We like the fact that he fights back against the Dems/Libs. Mitt Romney never fought back - he allowed Dems/Libs to relentlessly lie about him. So too with George Bush Jr. Look what they did with Clarence Thomas and Matt Kavanaugh. Look what Senate Majority leader Schumer did with Senate confirmation hearings. Dems/Libs get in the gutter and they languish there.
If this doesn’t scream Nobel Peace prize, I don’t know what does.

Here's the ad for those who don't watch cable news:
Here's the problem with the ad: Reagan did impose tariffs. On a much more limited scope, but, absolutely, yes, he did. In 1983, foreign motorcycles were eating their American-made counterparts effective lunch. Harley Davidson was particularly hit hard. So Reagan imposed a 45%(!) tariff on them effectively to save a handful of US jobs:
The 1983 motorcycle tariff, or Memorandum on Heavyweight Motorcycle Imports, was a presidential memorandum ordering a 45% tariff on heavyweight motorcycles imported to the United States, signed by President Ronald Reagan on A...
Bill Clinton did the same thing during his term with Japanese cars, which were cheaper and better than American-made ones at the time, and perhaps now, as well.
Setting aside the tremendous irony that Dems are now using Ronald Reagan of all people to smear Trump, you have to remember Trump's stance: he feels that trade wars are easy to win and good for the economy. As our economy has not collapsed, he has a point that one would do well to consider. The most pronounced effect of Trump's policy isn't in the tariff escalation, anyway. For lack of a better term, it's the troll wars. If you like him, you don't mind. If you hate him, it's the most misguided policy since Chamberlain trusted Hitler.
