These are speculations without any base.
Supposing that blood doping can help, in the range between 4% and -1% of advantage, we can find big differences among athletes, depending on the following factors :
a) If are responders or not responders
b) If they train in altitude or at sea level
c) If they have enough volume of training, and enough intensity (something very few athletes in the world have)
I know personally World Record Holders who Always trained in clean way, in some case without taking any legal supplement too, and strongly doubt they could have some, also very small, advantage with blood manipulation.
At the same time, I know personally some athlete of good level who improved using EPO, but also in this case I find the main reason of the improvement in a very big increase of training, starting with the increase of volume, and at the same time producing the increase in intensity.
In this case, the final improvement depends on the improved training. The question is : was EPO the reason of improved training because of physiological reasons, or because, taking EPO, the athlete finally decided possible to train more, while before supposed that training impossible ?
