I also made that same assumption last year, and was about the only person I knew who predicted a cutoff of more than 4 minutes. People thought I was off my meds when I said the cutoff for 2019 would be more than 4 minutes. Full disclosure, I was still on the low end, I predicted 4:12 and it was 4:52 as we all know. But I don't recall anybody else legitimately saying it would start with a 4 last year.
I think there were several people in the findmymarathon contest last year that got it exactly right.
Interestingly, this year it looks like the average guess in the contest is around 2 minutes. Not sure what the average guess was last year.
