While she doesn't necessarily think he shoulda been DQ'ed, her take is "don't do the crime if you can't do the time."

She is also now suspicious along the lines of "YOU'RE not the kind of person/YOU'VE never stiff-armed anyone out of your way, right?" (uh oh)

I still think that the RD, who claims to have seen bruises from a punch to the face, was incorrect to DQ. I still think Alison is a self-absorbed, self-congratulatory, self-important narcissist with a princess complex

but aren't we all, just a little?

interesting that everyone seemed to be running on the right side of the road. I read some of the RD's posts on the ST forum where he (I think) said that runners were supposed to be on the left. Either they set the course up wrong, all the runners ignored instructions, or the RD was mistaken or lying.

It seems that the DQed runner was staying to the middle to avoid this woman as well as the outgoing runners in front of him to his left. Slowing down would have actually resulted a direct collision rather than the glancing blow. I'd imagine he just kept going because it didn't feel like that hard of a hit (kind of a brush).

It would actually be interesting to see more of what happened before and affer the indident.

Either way, it is nice that nobody was injured. This is a good reminder that you have to be cautious, even when racing on closed roads.

Yeah - I agree with this all the way. I don't care if I was about to win the tri in a sprint finish - I wouldn't push/stiff arm a woman (or man for that matter) - particularly when he had tons of room.No one can deny from that video that it wouldn't have cost him 1/10th of a second to simply take a move in the direction out of the way of the woman.Yeah - she was a little oblivious - so what? Have you people walked around a city? Biked anywhere? Driven anywhere? In terms of obliviousness causing problems - hers falls on the very low end.

on the low end??? she was waddling backwards in a fenced off area of a race in a place she should not have been and there was zero expectation for others to expect her to be doing that. that's not the low end by any stretch of the imagination. i wish he had clothes lined her and then someone else had punched out the guy at the finish line. that would have been the just ending for these two idiots.

I think the real point here is that we have caught a woman red handed attempting to do the kind of deceitful stuff that women do all the time, but they are so sneaky and manipulative about it that it usually goes un-noticed.

Women are masters at twisting the truth! We all know this. We have all experienced a similar situation, where we were made to look like the bad guy. And most of the time we are powerless to stop it. We know something wasn't right. We know we were bamboozled. But our male brains just cannot move fast enough to catch the mental slight of hand that women finely craft over many years of training and experience.

This time however, we have managed to work together as men. With a little teamwork we managed to catch one of these ladies in the act. I think this sends a clear message to the women of this nation that we are on to their little tricks. That sh*t just will not fly any more. We have the audio, we have the video. And these things do not lie, no matter how skilled one is at talking and playing the victim.

Is your wife a runner or triathlete? The reason I ask, and would make this point in general, is that people who don't participate in these events (and apparently some that do) don't seem to understand the dynamics involved. And it's not that complicated.

Assuming the RD is correct in his description of how the run course was supposed to be approached, the reality is that the outgoing runners were using the right lane. From Blair's perspective it's only logical to run in the center as there were two runners to his left and a stroller and Alison to his right.

Now, the point I was getting at earlier. In approximately two seconds, Alison shifts from the shoulder of the lane to the center of it. Anyone who's a runner knows the difficulty of making a sharp pivot, particularly when you're not consciously expecting to. Thus it seems only logical that Blair, not expecting her to encroach upon him, used his forearm to block her from stepping in front of him. And given the pace at which he was moving toward her and she toward him, the actual impact seems minimal.

After reading both Alison and her friends blog post, the RD's account of events, and watching the video, I find it even more laughable that this reached the level it has. I still don't know how the RD can claim he punched her in the face or that if he'd been in his lane this wouldn't have happened. No! If she was paying attention this wouldn't have happened. If I were Blair, I'd be quite upset with how the three aforementioned individuals have presented and perpetuated this incident.

The petition should also include DQ'ing Allison for putting the safety of children at risk, and the firing of the race director for being a liar.

Looking at the video, one thing is clear. If the old man was any faster, she would have been "punched in the face" twice.

It's hilarious to continue to see this guy and/or his buddies' posts screaming "But it was her fault! She was clueless and self-absorbed and shouldn't have been doing what she was doing!" Not only was the incident plainly avoidable, he WENT OUT OF HIS WAY to strike her. The video shows it clearly. Stop trying to justify it, you're making yourself look worse.

I can assure you that I am not the guy or his buddy. You I guess are seeing it one way, along with Alison and a few others. Most of us are looking at this the correct way; selfish woman looking for adoration from her family walks backwards on a race course and gets slightly shoved and then continues to walk backwards and almost knocks over an old man if he had been moving faster. Then she has several children cross the finish line with her, which is absolutely not legal in a sanctioned race. Then a blogger and the race director lie about what happened, going so far as to say she wAs punched in the face.

Okay, please show me where he went out of his way and also, where did he exactly STRIKE her. Wow, just wow.

I never thought that I'd live to see the day when we'd have video evidence of a man touching a woman's body to finish a race. Because as we all now know; "Apparently this is the 3rd time in 27 years that a man has touched a woman's body in order to complete a triathlon race."

I think the new conspiracy here isn't the touching of female bodies but why the race director mentioned a "punch to the face" when he had supposedly viewed the video. I think he needs to address this comment. Well that and the fact that it clearly looks like the outgoing runners were running "with traffic"/ in the far lane and the incoming runners were in the near lane - which is opposite of what he said as well.

I can certainly see why Blair would drift out to the center of the lane because Allison, (can I call her Allie? I feel like I know them personally now) is backing into him. He probably thought that cutting to the inside was not going to work out for him and crossing the double yellow line would get him DQ'ed.

The intrigue continues.

Since we can't edit posts here, I'm posting again to rectify my initial post. I shouldn't have said that the guy was a douche. I watched the video again, and it's clear why he didn't stop: contact was not a big deal, the woman was fine.Summary: The female athlete is 100% at fault. The RD wrote things that were untrue. DQ should not have happened. The female athlete and her friends "outed" a regular guy minding his own business. They should apologize.

I think it was still possible to avoid her, and that would have been his best move. I think he saw her blocking more and more of his lane, and tried to teach her a lesson -- but not with incredible force or "touching a woman's body" or whatever. It was a douchey tri/race move, possibly worth a DQ, but not along the lines of malicious assault as it was seemingly made out to be.

And I don't think he had interest in anything sexual.

A few observations on the aftermath:

1. She barely shuffled forward a few steps -- she most definitely wasn't punched, and at worst it was a restrained hand to protect his space.

2. The cameraman, husband, and spectator in the video *continue to focus on her* while standing where they are. That is, she wasn't "hit" badly enough to go assist her quickly, and they didn't turn around to track the "bad guy."

3. Any gasping or crying afterward was mostly from the force of reality slamming into a princess complex (I like this phrase, borrowed from above) fantasy world.

Mostly, I don't like anyone involved with this race or video, and considering it was a triathlon, I don't feel like anything was learned by anyone, including me.

Apologize doesn't go far enough. They tried to ruin a man's entire life through outright lies and distortions in revenge for something that he wasn't even at fault for. I'd advise repenting to God.

If you watch that and think either one is completely in the clear you are an idiot. He could have moved, she shouldn't have walking backwards on the wrong side of the course. Neither should be DQ'd, it never should have become a "thing", move on with your lives.
