He's been running well since the summer. Was in the 14:30s at that Bergen 5k road race. He's at least as good as he was in the last part of his collegiate career right now, maybe even back to his old old self, of 08-09 (at least at the longer distances)

Without one of their scorers from regionals last year even running. Bates #5 was between their 1 and 2 but still, that squad has a shot.
Looks like SUNY G should be #1 comfortably, then Cortland and NYU will be fighting it out for #2. UR looks pretty safe at #4 (and they have been running very well at regionals the last few years, maybe they can get up with Cortland and NYU) but the RPI/SLU/TCNJ battle for 5 should be interesting. Not sure how Ithaca will do but they may also be in the hunt for that last potential spot for natts.
Still giving the edge to SLU at the moment. SLU & RPI race twice in the next 3 weeks (Ithaca in one of those races) so that should clear up the picture a little

Yeah...granted RPI isn't like...RIT-bad, but they aren't making Nationals, and Bates stomped them just like any reasonable person expected. Nobody under 26 at that course is not impressive IMO.

Ithaca's top 2 looked to be racing conservatively at Hamilton, for what it counts. Not like it makes their team a real threat or anything, but as far as the individual battle goes, I'd still take Bickell over Payne. I would've taken Zikrey over him too, but he just missed a race...didn't he? Anyone know if he's been dealing with injuries or anything?
Looks like U of R finished 3rd behind Carnegie Mellon and Dickinson at CMU Invite, but a couple of their top guys seemed to be missing (Pacheck, Wakimoto). They didn't race last weekend either. Maybe some injuries? Regardless, Rochester may take a hit in the rankings.

Now that I've actually seen the results, this was much more of a blowout than I realized. Bates' #1 didn't run, and they still swept and appeared to have been running as a pack...their scoring five were within two seconds. I don't really see how RPI can claim to be a national-caliber team after a beating like that. But carry on calling them a top five team in the region, I just thought I'd add some sense to this thread.

I bet RPI paid their way into the national rankings, or they are taking their races easy. I heard that they race walked this weekend just so they wouldn\\\\\\\'t run the risk of getting injured.

Cortland put their top 3 in front of Rakok and handled SLU pretty easily 26-49.

Looks like Cortlands 4-7 were jumbled and had an off day, otherwise it would have been an even bigger win, probably comparable to how they beat Hamilton back in September. I see St. Lawrence as over-rated. Very fortunate to have a freshman step up like Patterson has, because without that they would be fighting for a top 10 spot instead of 5th.
Also that is only SLUs 4th man.
