I don't think anyone is saying Bol is on the same level as Sydney. I think it's more a case of the Sydney fanboys who can't bear to hear Bol be spoken about positively.

Japan coverage really does suck. We missed a heat in the 800 the other day to watch a Japanese hurdler warm up under the stands. True that. I won't complain about Ato again, I promise.

Awesome run for Cole and a well deserved title. I still think a full strength Jakob is able to run away from him when he begins the squeeze. Going to be fascinating watching those 2 go at it for the next several years.
As for Grant, still a little baffled as to what the strategy was there. Nico I think mistimed his peak. Would love to hear an explanation on Mills.
The thing about the peak is that some people seem to run their best when they're in the middle of a huge training block. Other people turn super human by cutting mileage in half or something like that.
And some guys don't have a consistent response one way or another. you see it on teams where one guy runs amazing while following coach's plans, while the next guy has his worst race of the year.
Hocker seems to have that thing where he responds beautifully to a sharp peak. It's part of the talent checklist.

tbh, I don't think Hocker today was even beatable. And I'm a Jakob's stan. In the 1500m, you could take him out with tactics, but in the 5000m, the fittest is usually a lock.

yeah, I'm the one who can't cut mileage or will feel flat but need to keep the intensity in check; I also have a friend who needs to constantly flog himself with intense stuff; Another friend of mine though, needs to take things easy leading up to races. Training and peaking are as much an art as science.

So many of the comments about Femke winning the 400mh are about Sydney who was not even entered into the event and the interviewer asking Femke about Sydney after winning a gold medal is odd behavior. Sydney fans just can't stand her not winning when obviously she didn't care enough to try to win the 400mh only trying the flat 400
Worst thing about these relays is that bum teams like Germany can just be good at handoffs and steal medals.
Yeah how awful that actually being good at relays is a factor here. They should just add up everyone's personal times in their individual events and call it a day.

He said in the postrace interview he wanted to make it an honest race and not have it come down to the last 400, but it did anyway, and his legs weren’t there. Didn’t seem to want to say the season was too long; he thought he had it planned out OK.
