With the women’s 3k going 8:28 and the men’s 5k going 14:39 maybe she isn’t wrong.

to think anyone thought these events were going to be tv watch boomer. funny stuff. athletics without field is so much more boring.

track and field is really only about the major champs where everyone seeks to do well, and spectators have more interest.

Trying to make track and field like professional sports, which all have much greater interest for many reasons is difficult

MEN'S EVENTS short/long distance

800m......no sub 1:46.00 reduced by 20%, no sub 1:47.00 reduced by 40%

1500m....no sub 3:35.00 reduced by 20% no sub 3:38 reduced by 40%

3000m and 5000m no sub 7:54 and 13:30 reduced by 20% no sub 8:05 and 13:59 reduced by 40%

put this meet on par with the American Track League as far as meets go. Yes the format is different than all meets but don't see what they are doing any different as far as presentation.

Men's 5000 @ USAs just got exponentially more intriguing . . .

Actually, most of the athletes in that race are not American. Most of the athletes in the league are not American. And this meet is being held in Jamaica.

They should have bonuses for whoever leads at halfway in these races, but provided the time is under a certain standard and the person finishes under a certain time. Like the 5th avenue mile

Is anyone else a little peeved about how GST is presenting the race results? It's all about GST points, and you have to dig for the performance.

Half the fun of the Mile will be if it goes out slow and Wanyonyi is blasting Kerr and Nuguse off their feet, which based on how this 5k went is a huge possibility. You catch 800m runner Garcia in the heats at indoors? Fun to watch

^ I’ve been saying this. He’d have the best foot speed in the steeple field (aside from Lameche Girma, who we haven’t really heard from since his bad fall at the Olympics), he’s tall, and has shown that he can hurdle in a cross country setting. I really wish he would give it a try, even if he decided it wasn’t for him afterwards.

GST isn't gonna attract any viewers that DL wouldn't. I see nothing game changing.
