Faith went too far. SHould have just hit her with a forearm. the grab was too much.
When someone moves into your space 4000m into a 5000m, you don't have mental or physical capacity to take a measured response. It was an instant reaction to an illegal move by Tsegay. Kipyegon should not be the athlete penalized for it.
just rewatched it a dozen times, just the one angle that nbc showed live, there might be other angles - from that view who cant tell who instigated it, you cant really tell if tsegay was encroaching either. they go from a side view where those two arent in the shot and when they return to the view from the front the incident is already happening..
You must be seeing a different stream or something?
The Peacock world feed you can watch the whole thing develop and take place. Tsegay comes over from lane 2 and gets shoulder to shoulder. To my eye, the arm bars/grabbing at that point is equal. But Tsegay both did more to initiate and really put the cherry on top when she stomped all over Kipyegon to take lane 1. I guess they only DQ the person who is in line for a medal? But to me it seems ridiculous
Last year Tsegay took out Hassan. This year it's Kipyegon. Is that the best she can do?
i will go look up the "world view" feed. i watched it live on nbc tv in US and then replayed it on peacock but not sure what feed it was, im assuming the US one because it looked the same as what i saw on tv and didnt have the beginning of the incident.
May not have been the most thrilling race, but what a perfectly run race from Keely.
I'd say the opposite. I fully expected Keely to go for a total burn-up from gun-to-tape, the fact that she was sitting alongside athletes through 300m had me super stressed. Much more of a tense watch the way it played out
tbh, I thought it was over from 300m out. Mary would outkick her. Glad I was wrong!
What do y'all think of the Kipyegon dq? I think she looked like she was just defending her space because she didn't want to step onto or over the rail. This was the wrong call in my book.

Once I was doing a trail run and we hit a wet boardwalk, I slipped and my instant reaction was to reach out and completely horse collar the poor bloke ahead of me. Not a lot of time for thinking in the moment.
Peak Mu *could* have gotten the gold. But today didn't really look like peak Hodgkinson, either. But a B+ race from her was still good enough to gold, and that's all that matters today. Here's to hoping we get to see peak Mu vs. peak Hodgkinson at some stage, because I don't think we have yet.

She ran it perfectly. Didn't do a Reekie and leave everything in the first 200m. Perfect pace judgement to work the field but leave herself plenty for the home straight.
Keely slightly neg split, 58.4/58.32, forget about who wasn't there, wasn't in shape or the usual excuses, Keely won it controlled with plenty left to hold off anyone.
Hassan just told Dutch press she was overtrained just 3 weeks ago. Didn't do any speedwork last 3 weeks. She didn't care whether it's silver or bronze, just happy to medal.
