The US, even before this presidential administration, wasn't going to allow someone in the country on an extraordinary ability visa back into the country after they were charged with drug trafficking.
His performance decline and claiming it'll take nine months to return to where he was after four months off (it doesn't take that long to recover from four months injuries) shows just how much of a difference the performance enhancing drugs made.
"Drug trafficking" - I thought he brought the cannabis edibles to Japan for his personal use? In that case it would be crazy (unless mistaken) to charge him with drug trafficking, which sounds like drug peddling or selling for profit which Matt was not involved in. Am I missing something?
Anyway,it's done and dusted now, he's back in OZ, and let's hope he doesn't face obstacles should he want to return to the US.
What he did was technically drug smuggling. He mailed edibles to himself to try and get around customs. We never really heard the quantity of it, but it doesn't matter. Japan, like many Asian countries, has pretty draconian drug laws. He's fortunate he didn't do this in Indonesia. Could've been life in prison or the death penalty there.
