‘76, ‘92, ‘04, ‘16, ‘21 Olympic finals for starters. Also just sounds weird to call them girls. Like saying Marco Arop won the boys’ race.
Thanks for the info. I really didn't know. And speaking of gender, most (all?) of those races included some competitors who definitely weren't biologically 'women.'
it is awesome looking at the final results of the 76 finals. every single one of them: TO THE GILLS!
If he ran the fastest 10,000 that year, then yes, as world leader that beats the hell out some heats/tactics contest where they aren't even trying until the last lap.
You go ahead and kid yourself. When's the last time you were in a "tactical" 10k? Nobody does this. Even at elite level, it is literally only at the champs. What kind of "championship" is completely different from how they compete the rest of the time?
Just stop please. The point of a championship race is to cross the line first, times are not relevant
It's funny, when the JoBros FINALLY put in an 'ignore' button --after reasonable folks begged them for one for like 150 years-- I immediately blocked Wigins, Jamin, and that Trump dip-wad, and the quality of the board-experience *instantly* improved by like 100%.
Wouldn't fancy coming back to that after a busy day at the office.
lol. she's scottish. what do you expect?
She has an urban, central belt accent. You know, the Highland Clearances, displaced population, etc? We don't all have that accent. Even to a Scot, it can sound a bit...grating. Anyway, great runner, tough competitor.
I genuinely thought Nur had a medal shot in that 5000. He looked awful. Overall, it was a disastrous champs for US distance running. No medals for the second champs running in anything from the 1500 upwards. Considering the money going into most of those athletes, sponsors should be asking serious questions

Hide in flag or Boulder all you want… humidity prevails.
You are the best in the world at something, perhaps the best to have ever lived at something, and you think it’s nothing. She’ll appreciate it once it becomes harder.
Athing Mu will appreciate her running talent more when she tries a different career and sees how hard a career is when you aren't ridiculously talented in that career.

Looks like the button didn't work, but if you can't ignore things on your own without a button to help you, you've got problems that can't be solved by shame-projection.
Snow-man you are wrong, the point of a "championship" is to be the best at the competition distance. Drastically altering the competition model isn't a valid test of who is best. You and whatever army of bots or fanboys can vote that it hurts, but you can't vote it wrong, and I won't stop saying it.
The general viewership agrees, that's why they never show the whole 5000. The race isn't on yet, so they are shown some jumps or throws that actually count.
What is the BIG game? Beating Faith in the 1500 in Paris?
I've been saying for months that there is no way Athing Mu agrees to run the 1500 in the 2024 Olympics.
If she is barely motivated enough to run the 800 which is her main event, what makes anyone think that Athing Mu is motivated enough to run the 1500 against the best 1500 runners in the world?

i don't think it was as humid today as it has been. dew point around 59. but close to 90 degree temps, that is a tough day. USA champs was around 70 with a 50 dew point.

We don't know the details for sure
But it sounds like she thought she was gonna be on a much-needed vacation and then found out last minute she had to go to work afterall
How many people would feel any differently if they thought they were gonna be lounging on a beach instead of working?
And she prob hates showing up when she knows she's not at 100%

Kind of feels like the US kicks butt in pointless indoor meets and intrasquad scrimmages in Oregon, while European runners are preparing for World Championship finals...
Nia Akins PRed in the semis and then PRed again in the final. Not the most talent, but world class heart and head. Kudos Nia!
I see a TON of untapped for Akins - she might be the next 1:55.xx runner for US Women.. replacing Ajee Wilson. I think Rogers is just missing that last little gear that is needed
If Mu rebounds and Akins continues this progression, maybe two Olympic medals next year…
I like Nia Akins, and I know that she is a really hard worker. But unfortunately she doesn't have the raw speed that is required to be a 1:55 runner.
The Jamaican runner ran a 49.97 anchor (if we convert their 1200m time to their finishing time) and with a ~10 metre lead over the Netherlands that roughly translate to a split between 48.6s and 48.8s for Femke
