In Christ Alone by Keith and Kristin Getty
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
"Laughter is the best medicine. Human beings are a strange lot, but sometimes, Alice, they hit it right to the moon!"
-Rasta Malmo
I love this song. It was inspired by band leader John Popper's crush on the band's original female bassist, who was replaced before they broke through. On one hand, it reads like an incel anthem...on the other, the lyrics are fantastic (going from vulnerability to arrogance) and Popper himself had a sense of humor about his appearance. He appears almost nowhere in the video and has said plainly in interviews (after turning around) "This [rear end] does not sell records to thirteen year olds!"
