Hoping all young guys in here defending their photos take a minute to reflect. When I was young and running in college I could unfortunately see myself joining in on the sexist locker room garbage under the umbrella of “it’s just a joke not that deep bro 😂”. But I’m married, have kids, and teach and coach high schoolers. I’ve had time to grow and know what’s harmful. These camp counselors put younger girls in the position of taking demeaning photos for “art”. Even if you push the torture porn photos aside and just focus on the “bullying commentary”. It’s 2023 dawg, know how many young female students I’ve had attempt suicide from bullying and depression? Every year it’s 2-3 of my students. You think a photo of a dude shoving a girl in a locker is helpful, in any way? What’s the joke I’m missing? Explain it like I’m 5. This group should have been shut down the second they were asking “gay son or Thot daughter” and if you think that’s still a funny joke, realllllly please I ask you to stop commenting “rizz!” And sit and think about it for 2 minutes.
My thing is idk how the shoots correlate to running in a way. To me they just spun out random ideas. What do the viewers get out of it? I just didn’t understand the message of the shoot and it could have been refined if they wanted to stick w this high school theme.
Also Ben has rubbed me the wrong way since he did that g*y son or th*t daughter vid. No one talks about that anymore and I found it cringe. I thought they did a good deed at first not having Evert in videos after his allegations but i think they are still friends w him. I actually don’t like the videos when he’s interviewing ppl as i don’t think he has much of a personality when being filmed. I also realize he’s from Orange County CA so his upbringing and who he hung around could have been a contributing factor for how he operates.
New Gen needs to sort of operate like Citius Mag but from a younger perspective. Citius did the Magic Boost program exposing media personalities to how to make and market content and overall build your brand. It just seems like New Gen just gather runners w clout and have them hang out and do weird stuff for a few days. The first camp they did was actually their best one. Seemed like people were learning, educational and a good amount of those ppl are doing well in the creative space now and it wasn’t just a clout camp. I used to play basketball and there were and still are camps like that.
Overall i don’t t understand what New Gen’s plan is. I liked their pandemic vids and content through the first camp they did but it’s year 3 and it seems like no strides have been made. They just seem like frat boys trying to party and occasionally release a magazine like idk host a track meet, go on a tour and do runs w kids all across america. If you’re gonna drop everything and be in the creative space u gotta be 110% in it and it seems like none of them are in it

Always rubs me the wrong way when these content creators play that degenerate crap. Music is supposed to go with the scene right? So these content creators think of this music "f***in and suckin" when looking at high school girls and boys huh? Immediately turn that sh*t off.
And liberal use of the “n” word in the new gen camp 22 video that was posted. Yikes
That’s when I stopped following/unsubscribed. Not because the lyrics offend me but because it just didn’t mesh with a bunch of odd ball distance runners in what started as like their daily training videos during the pandemic.
I am still baffled at the parents and even kids who would want to attend such a camp, which is seemingly ran by content/art wannabes and people who really have no professional marketing skills or even a large social media following, have any of the people running these camps or so called corporations ever actually worked a professional job??? how can these individuals even claim to be anything other than mid 20s males trying to stay afloat?? They have no professional resume??? if I’m a parent and wanting to expose or teach my kid about art or content creation, I’m sending them to an actual affiliated camp ran by people who have experience and climbed the ladder to success.
If you are a parent, why would you chose this camp to send your kid too?? I mean NewGen only has 25K followers on IG.. on each college campus or HS you can likely find kids with more followers.. how can such a company claim to even know how to market??

I hope we get a better response from On than an employee liking an IG comment. The fact that they chose to align themselves with New Gen in the first place is a little baffling.

Parents do not do their HW on who this spineless new gen group is…
they just hear their kid got selected by On Running to go to Boulder
I’d actually like to hear CU’s response to this going on in their buildings
Please can you look back and read through what you just said? Now say it out loud... there's no way you can take yourself seriously. I get they shouldn't be joking about these tropes but you guys are reading way too much into it. Honestly feel the people who're calling them creeps are the weird ones. The people backing what Emma said are fine and seem reasonable but this seems to have just turned into an excuse to sh*t on new gen. People are really out here criticizing their strategy and exploits too? I'm a highschooler so I'm biased but from my perspective New Gen is a media outlet for the 'new generation' which is why many high schoolers like what they have been doing and the older audiences don't. You guys can keep ranting on this thread but outside of here no one cares, wants to hear it/ read it, and most high schoolers won't be on letsrun. They'll be updated through new gens insta page.

their strategy is to market themselves exclusively to a group of people with little to no income?
... also why many younger runners or at least its my opinion that feel like there's a divide between younger and older runners. The people ranting about new gen here are likely the people who would criticize Jayce Aschbrenner clapping his hands during woodbridge or say Simeon should've been dq'd for celebrating at nationals. The younger crowd on the other hand is more likely to have responded differently to those situations.
The people who are outraged are probably the same types who weren't allowed to play outside as kid or use Google without the safe search on until they were 18.
Bro those examples with Jayce and Simeon are not at all analogous to this New Gen mess. BFFR. Go back up and read Zach’s comment again.
jfc, nobody is going to commit suicide because of those pictures, and if someone would it's because they're mentally ill and not because the pictures are so shocking. There are far worse things out there to be afraid of.

I agree that people are using this incident to extrapolate and turn on Ben Crawford who they probably didn't like previously. I dont know much about Ben, but this incident alone doesn't say anything about him other than he is a poor leader of a brand and let the kids down on this one.
But the rest of this post i disagree with. Emma Gee had a valid concern about this one post being promoted by New Gen because they have such a large audience of young impressionable people. The concern wasn't with New Gen itself at that point, hell her partner even worked with them just recently. Nobody cared when it was just photos on Ryder Lee's profile with his friends. But when a large brand promotes those photos as part of their brand and the camp they run for youth it takes on a different meaning and context for their fans.
But even then, it didn't blow up just because she didn't like the pictures. It blew up because of the incredibly poor response to her criticism (not to mention the New Gen fans DMing her slurs and insults all night). It would have been so absurdly easy to end this and truly have no one care anymore with a proper apology and contextualizing why this was a simple mistake on their part in not thinking through potential impact of the photos being promoted. For a camp that is supposed to be teaching these kids about making content and promoting their brands this was a laughably bad failure when it could have been a great teaching lesson.
Also, its convenient their fans only read their instagram page since New Gen delete any controversial posts or comments from their page to make them seem awesome.
