Thank you for pointing out the elephant in the room.
Exactly.
As for NAU he did a great job putting 90% of his resources and scholarships into cross country. Training at altitude and all scholarships into a sport that has the least interest of any college sport. 80% of programs don't really care about cross country and the kids that are on the track & field team don't even care about cross country.
What did Heins do before NAU and after? How successful was he? We all know he is good coach, but is he great and can he lead a complete Track & Field program in the ACC and finish consistently finish in the top 20 in the NCAA at Louisville? I don't know. Maybe
Louisville has been a complete program under Cowper. I don't know if the AD wants to just be a cross country program and could care less about Track & Field.
Chances are she will be there long term. she’s bounced around quite a bit but it’s the first position offering her a living wage and room to grow. based off of her IG , she recently purchased a house in the east bay so probably won’t be looking to move location anytime soon. Great move on CSU East Bays end

Anyone have any insights on this one? I know it's a good program that has good mid-d success with largely foreign athletes but seems like they have high coaching turnover. Also is 64k a year livable in San Fran?

Is that why she ran for 5 different schools through college? And if she just bought a house in the East Bay before even starting the job, sounds like it's not the pay that's holding her back...

First of all - stop the hate Barb. I can speak from first hand experience that Ayla is a good person/coach. She never had a full time paying job in coaching and so from the outside looking in- she was trying to find the right fit. She worked with my team during the pandemic as a volunteer and to this day still helps several of the women with healthy mindsets without charging them or seeking recognition. East Bay under Tony had some good success and she could easily find the same. She’s amassed many experiences to teach their team and should she stay long term, will guide those young athletes towards success.
