I agree. Those type of comments come from those who have never worked in NCAA Division 3. To be "successful" at any Division takes a lot of hard work. To suggest otherwise shows a lack of insight.

Jason Bigelow was not an AA at Oakland.

JP was not a National Champion, Does not have two school records.

He was NOT a three year standout unless he counts ineligible time.

I worked in division 3, did well, loved it, and that is why i felt comfortable saying it. Go read the NCAA D3 philosophy statement and then read the D1 philosophy statement. The missions are completely different, the funding is completely different, and the ultimate expectations are completely different. Doesn't mean you can be at D3, grind for and expect excellence. But the level of expectation at USC is different, IT.JUST.IS

Interesting hire. One of the top high school coaches in the country.

Cornell has shown some imagination with recent hires--brought their throws coach up from D3 (and their previous throws coach was a D1 volunteer!). Nice to see they're not locked in to a D1-or-nothing mindset.

Apparently they've now got one coach for M&W jumps/multi, one coach for M&W throws, M coach and W coach for distance, M coach and W coach for sprints. Is that a fairly common setup these days?

Anyone have facts on the JP to UALR case? Other than some random poster.

Sorry, I’ve worked at the highest levels of every NCAA division. Power5 is the only one where we consistently put in 60hr+ weeks. D3 was fun and there were some great coaches there but overwhelmingly, they weren’t getting fired for only working 40hr weeks. Big time athletics is big time!

Changes at The Armory in NYC:

Jack Pfeifer, who had been at The Armory for nearly 20 years, has retired as the Director of College Track & Field. Jack was instrumental in returning college track & field to The Armory, and cultivating several highly successful college events, including many conference championships.

Aaron Robison will step into Jack’s duties and is the new contact for all things college track & field. Aaron comes from a long line of successful college track & field coaches, and has been around the sport for his entire life. He joined The Armory in the fall of 2016 after completing a Master’s Degree from Rutgers University. Aaron is originally from Provo, UT where he attended Brigham Young University and ran on their track & field and cross-country teams. The highlight of his running career was competing at the 2009 New Balance Collegiate Invitational here at The Armory.

How about this question, when is Harlis going to hire his 3rd jumps/multis coach in the last 4 years? Is it really that bad of an environment there? I haven't seen one update on that job.

I guess we should just assume that Sac State will be hiring from within? No news, no movements, nothing.

The administration is indecisive. That's why there's so many problems at the school. They don't have a clue as to what they want to do.
