True. Maybe he just wants to get out of Stillwater though. Not a great town to live in. UNC is a beautiful university.

FYI, some directors of track and field at SEC schools make in the $110-130K range, I know because one of my high school teammates ran at a well funded SEC university and they found his coach's salary online. I competed in the ACC, and had inquired to my coach about funding at the other schools, and he said UNC was not in the highest echelon of ACC funding. He said it could definitely be worse, but in regards to conferences, the ACC does not compare well to the other Power 5 conferences.
He said UNC was mid tier for the ACC. No way UNC pays close to $91K for the assistant to the distance coach.
If I am Lockhart's financial advisor, or career advisor, I would tell him to at least wait until he is offered a full time HEAD distance position.
This is not even a lateral move. This is a downward move on the totem pole.
I think Bobby’s financial planner more aptly counseled him that UNC is better than no job. He was done at Stillwater.
I know most of these guys mentioned or HCs of schools mentioned so I consult with many of them about who to hire or where they’re going with their programs respectively. Northeastern position is only 15-20k a year so they’re not gonna land a big name but a first time coach or former athlete of theirs. Lockhart told me personally he’s not going anywhere he’s staying put in Stillwater. BJ is head at UNO he interviewed a few guys but hasn’t made hire yet as he’s waiting to be announced. Mitchell should be the guy named sprints coach at WCU. Davis is currently interviewing candidates he just moved so has a lot going on. Drake already had a replacement before the Ink dried with Iowa State. Ok that will be all the goods you get out of me! Ready for some XC!!

Within 2 years, Manteo will lead a revolution of athletes to oust Cale. Cale is a solid assistant, not a head director.

W&M just finished phone interviews and will be doing face-to-face interviews shortly. I have no speculation but we'll know soon enough

McDaniel?/ The best Head Coach at Western Carolina in the past 30 years?? He's only been the Head Coach for 2 years!!! And majority of kids that he has had success with with there when he took over. It will be interesting to see what transpires in the next 2-4 years. Danny was pretty good when he was there. Took both programs from bottom of SoCon to top and kept them there with very little funding.

I know of an outstanding applicant who would be a great choice. We'll see if Jerry goes in that direction, but if it does happen, I'll confirm it was or wasn't this particular person. Great place to coach!
