What makes me most angry is that there's nothing Americans "get" from destroying USAID in a way that directly results in the death of the world's poorest children. It barely even qualifies as an act of selfishness. We're doing it for nothing. The debt picture is completely unchanged. Being an insanely rich country that controls its own currency means we have a genuinely magical ability to save hundreds of thousands of lives around the world with a budgetary rounding error. And MAGA's like: "No thanks, it sounds woke."
Here's what makes me even more angry: Exactly-next-to-no Republicans or "independents" will think about that - or dozens of other horrible Trump 2.0 things - when they decide on which party to vote for next November.
There is a theory that a nation “becomes” its leader. In other words they think and act like the leader. He changes them.
If you surveyed people 15 years ago about the minuscule USAID spend that results in saving millions of lives it would almost be universally supported.
Today the people would probably say those starving foreign people aren’t really people because they aren’t Americans.
To make matters worse, critics have raised serious questions about whether American “aid” has propped up socialist leaders by silencing their opponents. USAID’s spending aligns with the Left’s dark money network, which has propped up leftwing activist groups that staffed and influenced the Biden administration.6 USAID’s spending has long dovetailed that of Hungarian American billionaire George Soros and others in the Left’s dark money network, and that is no accident. In 2001, the Soros foundations network listed USAID among its “donor partners,” alongside other government aid agencies in countries such as Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.7 The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, which lists both the Open Society Foundations and USAID as donors, has attacked criticism of Soros as an “anti-Soros crusade.” Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Mike Gonzalez, a senior fellow at The Heritage Foundation, had drawn attention to Open Society Foundations e8orts in the European country of Macedonia. “Why am I paying through my tax dollars for a foreign operation to attack me?” Gonzales asked The Daily Signal. “Why is a foreign operation attacking domestic political actors on behalf of the U.S. government?”8 Open Society Foundations and USAID have also partnered in supporting the East West Management Institute, which received $31.2 million from USAID in the last full fiscal year ending on Sept. 30. The institute launched court changes in Albania that critics allege resulted in the prosecution of Albanian opposition leader Sali Berisha, silencing the opponent of the country’s socialist prime minister.9
Targeted DEI and LGBTQ+ programs: Critics, including the Trump administration, cited funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in foreign workplaces and LGBTQI+ activism abroad as examples of "woke" overreach. Specific examples included a "DEI musical" in Ireland and a "transgender opera" in Colombia. Climate change initiatives: Projects addressing environmental issues and climate change have been framed as part of a "woke" agenda. General foreign policy direction: Some critics argued that under the Biden administration, USAID's mission had drifted from traditional development to a divisive political and cultural agenda. This was described as inconsistent with American values and antagonistic to foreign partners. Historical and systemic criticism: Others have pointed to long-standing issues with USAID, suggesting that the "woke" narrative was used to justify dismantling an agency that has also served as a tool for U.S. foreign policy and corporate interests, with limited effectiveness in promoting development.

And many millions will perversely consider themselves MORE pious after voting to stop feeding the poor.

Imagine posting something from White House dot gov and expecting that people view that as proof of anything.
I linked the White House historic rescissions after the Google AI overview.
USAID and Department of State (State) – Democracy Fund – $322 million This account funds the “democracy promotion activities” of the Department of State and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). In practice, so-called democracy promotion activities undermine American values, weaken the perception of America abroad, and interfere with the sovereignty of other countries—including our allies.

We're not the world's piggy bank or the garbage can for the world anymore. Let them take care of it themselves.

Or this from the Father of the Constitution:
"I Cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of its constituents" -James Madison
Trump has forever changed the requirement of what is expected of World Leaders, from China to Russia to the Middle East to Europe and South America and every other imaginable spot on the globe. Delivering World Peace, under such brutality from Americans (so called) who tried framing him into prison is God driven. There is no other explanation. Kudos to every single MAGA voter who maintained the strength thru absolute tyranny and abuse from those who call themselves Americans.
Newsflash, probably dumbest guy on the thread: Your orange god JUST got done showing off about his great deal involving those terrorists. And specifically, apparently, lying about directly negotiating with those terrorists. So......see if you can guess what I'm about to say.....if they're acting like terrorists 15 minutes after the "great deal," MAYBE it wasn't a great deal (hostage release aside) ???
Dumb, gullible, unethical, ALL DAY LONG......
Speaking of Trump and Hamas, after his recent comments (yesterday?) about disarming them, all you Trumpers onboard for sending the Gravy Seals from Texas to some NON-landscaping work in the Gaza Strip?! America First !!
Trump is in a hurry to remove every Palestinian so that his 10 billion dollar resort can be built before his end comes.

Note (esp. to Petey): It's OK if they go there very fat. Israel did a very good job of making sure that there is no food for the children....or anyone else.

And, a lot of U.S. farmers lost a guaranteed buyer for their crops... the U.S. government. And Trump wastes the saved money by giving farmers a handout.

Yes, and how beautiful is that? Rushmore will be even better.

fine. All blue states should stop subsidizing red states. It's been going on forever and apparently such charity is forbidden by Christ. Done. On to the next. This should get me into heaven, stopping charity.
