Robert Young fakes run across America

That's very cool to watch. His style is half-way between a Japanese elite marathon (very short strides and little knee lift) and a race walker, with very smooth leg action.

I watched the video too and thought the stride was good for this type distance. I went out afterwards and ran an hour and a half with the mantra, "trans-continetal legs" in my head and emulated what it would feel like to run this for 3000 miles. I think it felt good. I could maybe do about 30 miles a day like that, 10 in the am, 10 in the mid, 10 in the pm.

Same thing as other post, the temperature data is not accurate:

It was not 95F at that time and place. It was more like 75-85F, with a breeze.

Yes. We need to hammer home what he is to the fanboys. They have no clue about the stupid times he claimed in the first half, and refuse to listen right now. But once he fails, they might be up for reading a fairly SHORT well written summary, with EASY TO FOLLOW (these people are not bright) stats backing up why he could not have done the first half legit.

Keep it short and simple.

But still most wont listen. Try telling a religious person there is no evidence for God. Nothing can convince them once they believe, and the fanboys believe in Rob like a God I'm afraid.

Can someone please tell me why in the year 2016 a man running with a GPS watch that records cadence won't release the data when he's accused of cheating? Instead he resorts to recording facebook videos talking about how everythign is recorded on paper??

I hope he does finish. That doesn't mean much to me. Lance Armstrong finished the TDF as well. Maron Jones finished the Olympics. They are great athletes. THey also were cheats.

OK folks, following on the excellent legwork re: the desert RV situation, I have put together the following:

I matched up the GPS thumbnail with Google Maps and it fits well (there is an off-road trail you can't see at this resolution, before he gets to 95). So I am pretty sure he set off from the stuck RV at 7:31AM, ending up a couple miles north of Bannock on 95 at 8:19AM. From there it is 13 miles to Hwy 163, and other 21 to Laughlin (at least 34 miles).

He claims to get there "around noon". Photo at the pool is at 12:52. So let's say 12:30. That gives him just over 4 hours to run 34 miles along a desert road unsupported... unlikely.

Besides, despite his efforts to cut off an activity from view on the TomTom pics, we can actually discern information from it. The entire upper 50% of the thumbnail circle is visible and essentially empty (save for a couple pixels maybe). This means the run for this activity happened almost completely horizontally (West to East). The little blip that is seen actually corresponds pretty well to the North bend in the road of Rt 163.

It appears, based on this data, though something could be wrong with it, that RY did not run the majority (about 13 miles) of Hwy 95. How, I don't know. The RV was not available. Hitchhike? Who knows what's going on here, but it doesn't add up to "he ran it unsupported".

Check that, considering the direction he was running and the wind direction: he was running generally into 17mph winds. That is something to consider actually.

My thoughts as well on the east west thumbnail. I'm not sure about the blip though. I did some filtering and couldn't get more out of it except that it doesn't stray into the north portion of the thumbnail. Agree about the temps and I'm guilty of that, so I'll stick with the range posted.

You guys are blowing this whole opp. Calling him a cheater based on gps and other data is clearly achieving nothing. I don't get why legions of folks weren't racing like firetrucks out to his location from the moment this came to light - physically watching his every action. By now he would have been on a flight back home.

I think from the thumbnail we have a high certainty of his location at 8:19AM. So, bottom line, he has an absolute maximum of 4 hours, 33 minutes to be sitting at the Laughlin pool about 35 miles away. 7:45 min/miles. Unsupported. Desert. That's total time, not moving time....

Besides, his own data claims he ran 22 of those 35 at 10min/mile. So he closed the remaining half marathon in 0h48m.

The jealous haters just cannot accept another world record!!!
