She's a decent sub elite runner but she's not the greatest runner ever (not even locally - she came in third at the B&A half). Listening to Thomas gush about her paces TO her is so uncomfortable.
Her marahton PR is 2:45, she has a decent amount of work to do to get to 2:37 (if it's the same time as 2024). she also seems overtrained and should probably stop running 6+ marathons a year.
And she's 37, so the cumulative stress of all those marathons makes that very difficult. Agree re Thomas. He is so cringe.
She's not particularly close; if you know her/follow her on Strava, she attempted the OTQ at CIM 2023. She wrote in her log that she "took a swing" but was behind OTQ pace by mile 2 (!) and finished well, well off of it. Not sure that's even stepping in the batter's box. Not to say she isn't a fine runner - she certainly is - but just another example of "sub-elite" runners having no benchmark besides OTQ. Hopefully she can take a run at sub-2:40 or something.
However, in comparison - would love to see more of her and less of Thomas. Or none of Thomas! Robbie is amusing, at least.
Continuing the new feature on this sub which I will sporadically post over the next few weeks/months. Lots of big match ups of 32 (or maybe 16 if I can’t think of 32) ‘influencers’.
*****Earlier matches on previous pages. Will collate the first round results when all matches played to see who has made the next round (so still time to vote) ******
Culminating in the crowning of our favourite YouTuber. We like to mock and laugh at many on here but who do we actually like? Who escapes our ire and gets to be crowned champion. Vote either up or down depending on your choice.
Round 1 - match 5/16. Feel free to comment as to why you came to this judgement.
Philly ran 2:25 at Berlin , not Valencia. The London looked tough , the elite women’s field was so small it looked like she was running by herself most of the way ,

I just don't see how anyone can be invested in someone they don't know's "Parkrun journey", but OK.
Believe it or not, everything is not about you and your feelings. There is an entire world outside of your head...
There's an audience for everything in this world and the internet exposes this. It may not be your thing, so move the f*ck along...
Yes, and this thread is created to discuss YouTubers, every single sentence in this weighty thread is someone's opinion on something. None are more or less valid than any others.
Elizabeth Clor is the new DeMoor. A mediocre aging hobby jogger that offers no wisdom, no knowledge, and no true inspiration. The content is a narcissistic parade of new shoes and outfits plus a glimpse of how they seemingly live better than you. Take the running out of of it, would you follow an account where very mid people post content about mundane things, buying clothes, and leaving a home that most could never afford to live in an even more expensive property?

Her "I'm going to be homeless because I can't find a temporary place that will have enough space for our baby grand piano," post was epic. I mean what was she going to do, live in a U-Haul van with a mattress under her piano?
Meanwhile Fordy has dropped his latest video explaining why its his adhd and autism and work and everything else that's the reason he's plodded in yet anther marathon. And not that he's simply not training properly.
But its OK, cause Chicago "will be different" (narrator says "it wont be")
Someone in the comments even constructively questions his training methods, and of course he doubles down
He'd actually be wise to do a collab with another YTer who can train him properly. But that would affect his image of "man who knows everything"

He needs to knock on the head his obsession with the marathon. He can't do the miles to run a decent marathon with his "coaching" and YouTube stuff.
Not all media is aimed at you. You won't "get" everything.
Maybe, just maybe 40 year old, new runners, documenting their park run journey are being watched by other 40 year old new runners?
You are not meant to "get" anything from every piece of media. You chose what is relatable to you and consume

Regarding sports, I think the term "inspiration" is used to encourage people to participate in sports. The 2012 London Olympics was given the marketing strapline, "inspire a generation". Over a decade later, there is zero evidence it increased participation.
A middle-aged bloke with kids is not going to relate to pampered superstars like, Keely Hodgkinson and Mo Farah. They have no real-life experience beyond high sport and are dull at best.
However, a like-minded busy dad like FOD does motivate me to train a little more. Also, following people similar to me who are training for a like goal race does motivate me, a little.
I think most people love Ran to Japan too. Very likeable guy.
Others who seem to be well liked on this thread include Tim Gross, ItsOnAndy, The adverntures of the raley twins, Adam Wood, NRG runs
What has happened to Ran to Japan in Copenhagen? Apparently he is in hospital and very sick
He posted on his instagram story the other day. Looked like he was bitten on his hand/arm or something and developed a nasty infection. Said he was being prescribed antibiotics and was barely able to walk let alone run. Hope he’s better soon.

The bell! Mo farah hits the bell!
Muchini too so does Tadese
Mo farah has the might of east Africa behind him,
The two bekele brothers
The field is being spread eagles
One two for the Salazar boys
If it didn't inspire anyone how can I quote it and the noise still gives me goosebumps
Unfortunately, better coaching won’t help in Fordy’s case, because no matter how fit he is, during the marathon he starts focusing on waving at familiar faces and giving high fives. Then, around the 30 km mark, he sees a familiar runner and starts walking ”with the boys”. He lacks the mental strength to take the final kilometers of the marathon seriously, when it’s time to really start pushing.

Going to digress slightly. But my best marathon was an event where I had zero supporters present. (family were on the tracking app at home) So no-one specific to look out for.
And when I got to the tough part I was basically ignoring everyone else on course, and the spectators, and just talking to myself in my head to keep my brain in the right place.
Perhaps Fordy (if he MUST continue to do marathons) would be better served not wearing the top, not taking the camera, wearing clothes that make him more nondescript and not telling the world his plan until afterwards. As you say, he gets distracted easily. Sadly the next event is Chicago where he's already bigging himself up in terms of target time and he's scheduled a shed load of "PR" stuff around the event. Which the complete opposite of what he needs
