Nothing screams “Nobel Peace Prize” quite like making the people who choose the winner afraid of retribution if they don’t choose you.
i realize he wants this more than anything to award-wash his image and legacy. he will never get within 100 miles of it because he has gone out of his way to be cruel in the world and to rub people's noses in the dirt. you don't get humanitarian awards after that.
he has actually done some decent things but he then disavows them for political purposes. warp speed was a good thing. if he didn't turn right around with china hoax on covid, that might have been a legacy item.
similarly, getting out of afghanistan, if his game hadn't been to dump it in joe's lap and let him deal with the bloody part of "the fall of saigon" that happens when your exit treaty is total capitulation to the taliban.
and the irony is i refused to vote for obama the second time because he failed to make this happen as he promised.

Donald Trump has already been nominated, multiple times, for next year's award. We have a year to see how this "peace plan" works out. I hope it works beautifully; if so, he could be a real contender for the Prize.

as far as i am concerned, biden got us out of afghanistan, because, regardless of the treaty, it was on his watch, and he owned the gritty consequences. trump is the guy who farts then leaves the room, as we know from 2020 and how he tanked covid and the economy. we then have to vent the stench.

Trump's "plan" was to negociate with terrorists and release 5000 of them back into the fight, then leave a vacuum for them to take over. Then when he lost the election he rapidly withdrew troops weakening US allies more hoping it would hurt Biden. Biden delayed, but Bush's war was unpopular so he followed thru on Trump's plan despite clear signs it was going bad there.
